The Rajasthan High Court has set aside the no-confidence motion against the elected Rajasthan Cricket Association officials headed by Lalit Modi, giving the Amin Pathan group 30 days to propose a fresh motion. However, despite Wednesday’s order, the RCA continues to remain suspended by the BCCI.An order passed by the court stated that Pathan’s takeover of the RCA last year was illegal since the alleged no-confidence motion had been held without the requisite 21-day notice. The court asked the chairman of the Rajasthan Sports Council, who was given charge of RCA affairs in last October, to pass on the mantle to Modi’s faction on March 13 in case the Pathan group does not propose a no-confidence motion till then.According to Mehmood Abdi, a key Modi aide, even if the no-confidence motion is upheld, the sports council “will have to initiate fresh elections”. This would certainly be a shot in the arm for Modi, the former IPL chairman who has been residing in London for almost five years since his expulsion from the BCCI in April 2010. Pathan remained unavailable for a comment.Even if the members of Modi’s group are reinstated as RCA administrators, the association will continue to be suspended. The BCCI had suspended RCA immediately after Modi was elected the president on May 2014, on the grounds of having allowed a person expelled for life from the BCCI to contest the elections.

The career of former England fast bowler Kabir Ali is once again in limbo after his was released by Lancashire. He requires a length period of rehabilitation following shoulder surgery.Kabir, 33, is now looking for a fourth county to extend his career that has seen him play 15 times for England.Kabir spent two seasons at Lancashire. He was used exclusively as a one-day bowler in 2013 but played seven Championship matches last season taking a respectable 17 wickets at 30.41.But his season was curtailed by injury that required surgery and the uncertainty around a return to full fitness saw Lancashire not offer Kabir a new deal. For a player whose career has been blighted by injuries, his future as a professional is surely in doubt.Injury also saw his time at Hampshire, who he joined after 10 years at Worcestershire in 2010, limited to just 33 appearances in three years as he struggled with knee and ankle problems.”While Kabir has only been with Lancashire for two years, he has made a significant contribution particularly in the one-day formats,” Ashley Giles, Lancashire’s recently-appointed cricket director said.”The injury came at a really unfortunate time for him and we would all like to thank him for his contribution at Old Trafford. We wish him well for the future.”Kabir added: “I have had an enjoyable time at Lancashire and I have made some good friends along the way. My injury came at the wrong time and I will assess my situation after my rehabilitation in six months’ time.”Kabir enjoyed an excellent start to his career that began at Worcestershire. He took 71 first-class wickets at 25.08 in 2002 and followed up with 67 at 23.16 a year later. They were numbers that brought him selection for England and his Test debut came in August 2003 against South Africa at Headingley. He also played in the Champions Trophy a year later.

New Zealand wicketkeeper Kruger van Wyk has been appointed captain of Central Districts for the 2014-15 domestic season. Van Wyk will take over from Kieran Noema-Barnett, who served as captain for the last two years and led the team to the Plunket Shield title in 2012-13.”Kieran’s done a great job over the last two seasons but he’s got aspirations to play at the international level and, from that point of view, we want to give him the optimal opportunity to concentrate on his own game,” Heinrich Malan, Central Districts’ coach, told . ”It’s got nothing to do with Kieran as such. We made the decision with him and to give him the best opportunity to play at a higher level. He’s on board with that and happy for us to have the best interests of his career at heart.”Van Wyk was captain of Canterbury Wizards when they won their first state championship title in 2008, but he was stripped off the captaincy during the 2009-10 season, after which he joined Central Districts. Since then, he has occasionally been captain in a stand-in capacity, and Malan believed van Wyk’s natural leadership skills boded well for the team.”He’s been an MA [Major Association] captain before and he’s played international cricket so, from a pedigree point of view, he ticks all the boxes. Every time we get ourselves in trouble, at 120 for 5 or something, he comes in at seven and he’s the grinder and the battler and he leads from the front in all aspects,” Malan said. “Kruger is a different kettle of fish when it comes to cricket. He overthinks and over-analyses, so it’s going to be good for me to challenge him in a different way and for him to challenge me.”Van Wyk has played nine Tests for New Zealand, but he was dropped after a poor series in Sri Lanka in 2012, when he made 41 runs at an average of 13.66. He has not played an international match for almost two years.

Former Sri Lanka coaches have often spoken of the team’s thrill for a fight, particularly from poor positions. As the man currently in that job, Marvan Atapattu delivered a fighting talk of his own, after the fourth day in Galle.Sri Lanka remain 260 runs adrift on a wearing surface, and although the hosts would have to score the highest-ever fourth innings total at the venue as well as break their own record for the highest fourth-innings chase, Atapattu has not ruled out victory yet.”It’s a challenging total,” he said. “A team hasn’t gone past 300 in the fourth innings at this venue, but we’ve got a team inside the dressing room who’re willing to fight. That I can guarantee you. We’re aiming to get the amount of runs but we’ll fight to get through the first session tomorrow and see where we’ll be placed at.”Sri Lanka faced a first-innings deficit of 163, and the only time a side has overturned a deficit of that size at the venue, was when Australia defeated Sri Lanka in 2004, after the hosts had scored 161 more runs in the first innings. The highest successful fourth innings chase in Galle is 96, but Sri Lanka will take heart that their highest chase of 352 also came against South Africa.”I haven’t seen that stat, but that is something I’ll look into and probably have in the dressing room for all of us to be motivated,” Atapattu said. “It’s good to know that people have done it, but even if someone hasn’t done it – it doesn’t mean that you can’t do it.”It’s all in the mind and how you think and the confidence levels. In a situation when you have the whole day to get the runs – don’t get me wrong, it’s not easy or guaranteed with the attack they have – but there is a chance. It’s a bold declaration from Amla, encouraging us to go for our shots.”Their bowlers might have a few more chances from our batsmen, going for shots. After the first innings when South Africa got to 255 on the first day, for the game to be poised at this position, is a credit to both teams and how they’ve played.”Atapattu also suggested the Galle surface remained a good one for batting, despite its history of taking extravagant turn. South Africa scored 206 at over four runs an over on Saturday – though they did lose six wickets – and Sri Lanka reached 110 for 1 by stumps, going at well over three runs an over.”This wicket has turned square when Muttiah Muralitharan bowled here and he would have turned it square on any wicket. Some of us had been misled. Yes the wicket is good and the batsmen have adapted, used their feet, swept, reserve swept, handled situations, and handled bowlers differently, because there’s no bowler called Murali. He would have been in a different proposition had he been here.”Despite the optimism, Atapattu was also sober in his assessment of the challenges his team would face on the final day, particularly in the form of reverse swing and spin. Imran Tahir, South Africa’s No.l spinner, would appear one of their primary hopes for victory.”It could be anybody from that attack tomorrow that poses a major threat. They’re all quality bowlers. For a legspinner, I believe that he [Tahir] can come into the game at any time on a track like that, when somebody has the variety that he has. We will play with respect and look to put the bad ball away.”

-Claro que fazer gols é importante para justificar sua posição, sou camisa 9 hoje e tenho obrigação de fazer gols. Isso gera tranquilidade para o nosso torcedor. Tinha uma cobrança de gols. Fiz dois em sequência e espero poder fazer mais ou ajudar a fazer gols. Essa é a minha função, de ajudar e participar das jogadas – disse Diego, na reapresentação do grupo, completando:

– (A vitória) Traz um ambiente muito bom, todo mundo segue trabalhando com muita alegria. Esse clima de vitória é muito importante. Fazer gol é sempre importante. Não fico com isso na cabeça. Não vinha saindo, a gente vinha aprimorando bastante. As coisas têm acontecido com naturalidade.

Depois do Clássico da Amizade, Diego Souzase isolou como o terceiro maior artilheiro da história dos pontos corridos, com 101 gols. Na conversa com jornalistas, o atacante também salientou a busca por Paulo Baier, que tem 106 gols e é o segundo da lista.

– Claro que quero buscar o Paulo Baier, porque eu buscando o Paulo vou estar fazendo meu trabalho bem feito. Não sei quantos gols tenho na carreira. Soube do centésimo só depois que fizeram uma matéria.

Diego Souza chegou ao Botafogo no início de março, emprestado pelo São Paulo até dezembro deste ano. Ao todo, o camisa 7 soma 13 jogos pelo Glorioso e volta a campo neste domingo, às 16h, para encarar o CSA, fora de casa.

– O Coritiba, em casa, é sempre um adversário muito forte. O fator campo, para eles, é importante e eles sabem usar bem isso. Vamos ter o máximo de atenção para sairmos desta rodada somando pontos como visitante mais uma vez. Isso conta bastante no fim da temporada. Temos que buscar pontos sempre fora de casa. Rodrigão é um atacante que tem muita qualidade. A temporada dele tem sido muito boa e o início dele na Série B mostra isso. Temos que ter o máximo de atenção com ele. Qualquer vacilo ele marca. Precisamos mostrar o equilíbrio defensivo das primeiras rodadas da Série B para termos sucesso diante deles.

Apesar das dificuldades que o time deve enfrentar em Curitiba, o lateral de 29 anos de idade pontuou que a largada conseguida pelo LEC, inclusive já com um triunfo como visitante frente ao CRB em Maceió, dá confiança para o próximo desafio na temporada.

-Nosso início na Série B tem sido bom. O grupo tem assimilando bem o trabalho no dia a dia e vem evoluído bastante. Herói no Carioca passado, Carli chegou ao Botafogo em 2016

Marcelo colecionou boas atuações ao longo deste ínterim sem Carli e, somando 14 jogos ao todo, com um gol marcado, afirmou que prefere seguir disputando vaga como zagueiro, ao vez de concorrer pela lateral direita ou meio-campo.

Além da liderança, Carli tem o seu peso amparado pelos números. Já recuperado após uma artroscopia no joelho direito, o xerife de 32 anos viu o Botafogo perder apenas um dos últimos 15 jogos em que esteve em campo – somando a temporada passada. E mais: nas últimas sete vezes em que o zagueiro jogou, foram sete vitórias e seis jogos sem sofrer gols.

Ou seja, Carli retornará em um momento oportuno, já que Eduardo Barroca está em seus primeiros passos como técnico do Botafogo e, certamente, a experiência do camisa 3 irá beneficiá-lo diante dos encardidos duelos do Campeonato Brasileiro.

Daqui a quatro dias, o Botafogo receberá o Juventude pela partida de ida da terceira fase da Copa do Brasil. O jogo marcará o reencontro da torcida com o time que está pressionado após a vexatória eliminação no Campeonato Carioca e com um velho conhecido do início da década: Fahel.

O ex-meio-campista, hoje, integra a comissão técnica fixa do Juventude, onde é auxiliar do técnico Marquinhos Santos. Ele começou no cargo em agosto do ano passado, na equipe de Luiz Carlos Winck. Em entrevista exclusiva ao LANCE!, Fahel falou do carinho especial que sente pelo ex-clube.

– A importância do Botafogo para mim é imensa. É um clube pelo qual tenho um carinho enorme, onde passei uma fase muito boa da minha vida, onde fui campeão e pude fazer grandes amigos. Hoje, defendendo o Juventude em uma nova função, vou fazer o melhor para que possamos sair com a vitória – disse Fahel, que também jogou e encerrou a carreira pelo Juventude (de 2016 a 2017).

Aos 37 anos, Fahel também destacou a crença no trabalho de reconstrução que tem ajudado a desenvolver no clube gaúcho, que busca se recuperar da recente queda à Série C e voltar à elite do futebol brasileiro. A experiência faz parte dos planos de Fahel em se tornar treinador.

– Nós acreditamos muito no trabalho que estamos fazendo. É um clube que está se reerguendo, procurando voltar para o cenário nacional e, quem sabe, estar jogando a Série A, entre os maiores no futebol brasileiro. Futuramente quero assumir como treinador, trazendo as coisas boas que aprendi. Estou muito feliz nessa nova fase – completou.

L!: Como vai ser esse reencontro com o Botafogo, ainda mais em um jogo marcante (pela recordação da final de 1999)?

Esse reencontro vai trazer na memória momentos marcantes para mim. Um encontro entre Juventude e Botafogo sempre vai trazer na memória o jogo de 1999. É uma final que foi marcante para os dois clubes. O Juventude dá uma grande importância a essa partida. É um clube que está se reerguendo, procurando voltar para o cenário nacional e, quem sabe, em um futuro próximo, estar jogando a Série A, entre os maiores no futebol brasileiro. O clube vem trabalhando para voltar à elite do futebol brasileiro. Sabemos que vai ser um jogo difícil porque a equipe do Botafogo tem uma qualidade muito grande, é uma equipe forte, ainda mais agora com a contratação do Diego Souza e Cícero. Mas nós também temos confiança no nosso trabalho e vamos tentar fazer o nosso melhor nestas duas partidas para sair com a classificação.

– Por que acredita que o Juventude pode surpreender, a começar pela partida no Rio, e passar de fase?

Nós acreditamos muito no trabalho que estamos fazendo. Sabemos que teremos dificuldade nas duas partidas diante de uma equipe que vem se reforçando, bem estruturada. Temos que jogar com inteligência, com a intenção de fazer bons jogos e o objetivo na classificação. É um campeonato diferente, que dá condições a todas as equipes de sonharem com um voo mais alto e é isso que vamos fazer, cientes das dificuldades mas acreditando no nosso trabalho.

– Como está a experiência como auxiliar-técnico? Sempre foi um desejo seu? Pretende ser técnico em um futuro breve?

Estou muito feliz nesta nova fase da minha vida. Já estava me preparando há cerca de quatro anos, fazendo alguns cursos. Nunca me vi longe dos gramados e do ambiente do futebol. É algo que gosto muito e com o qual sonhava. Meu objetivo é ser treinador no futuro. Tenho que passar por este momento e estou procurando aprender com todos os treinadores. O Marquinhos Santos é um cara formidável, uma pessoa sensacional. Procuro aprender também com os atletas, comissão técnica. Já trabalhei com três treinadores: Julinho Camargo, Luiz Carlos Winck e Marquinhos Santos. Com eles posso aprender e acrescentar lições que tenho na memória de tantos treinadores que passaram por mim. Tive o prazer de trabalhar com nomes como Joel Santana, Ney Franco e vários outros. De cada um deles pude aprender bastante e, futuramente, quero assumir como treinador, trazendo as coisas boas que aprendi. Estou muito feliz nessa nova fase. Sei que tenho um caminho longo pela frente para que eu possa fazer bons trabalhos, se Deus permitir.

It enabled Yorkshire to emerge from a difficult opening day in respectable shape.Under the watchful eye of England selector James Whitaker, who has been tracking his progress with interest for more than just the last few weeks, Ballance made 112 runs in around four and three-quarter hours to check Warwickshire’s ambitions. With the help of a disciplined half-century from Alex Lees, again showing maturity beyond his 20 years, Ballance prevented what might have been a one-sided day after Warwickshire’s stand-in captain, Varun Chopra, had won the toss and opted to bowl first on a green-tinged track.The defending champions had arrived in Leeds having at last looked as if they were recapturing last season’s form and the quartet of seamers at Chopra’s disposal by no means let him down, maintaining a high work rate for much of the day and, they would contend, not enjoying the best of luck given the number of times ball beat bat, especially in the morning session. Even so, they still had Yorkshire 26 for 2 after Adam Lyth and Andrew Gale departed in quick succession, the latter without scoring.But Ballance is in wonderful form. In 13 innings in the Championship, he has scored 52 or more eight times and averages 61.69, his three hundreds including a Championship-best 141 at Scarborough would have attracted rather more attention had Gale not scored 272 in the same innings.Ballance’s supporters at Headingley argue that he might have been considered as Kevin Pietersen’s potential replacement for the current Test match, citing better statistics than James Taylor. The latter’s prior experience was always going to give him an edge in that argument, but Ballance is not far away. He was named in the provisional squad for the Champions Trophy, took part in England nets ahead of the Test against New Zealand at Headingley in May and was selected for the Twenty20 series against the same opponents, although he did not play. A call-up for the one-day series against Australia after the Ashes looks a real possibility.”Over the whole season I’ve felt in good touch and I think my current form is probably up there with the best I’ve had in my career,” Ballance said. “I’ve worked hard over the last few years, so it’s probably come about through getting more experience at first-class level, having more responsibility and playing week in, week out.”It’s given me some confidence that I’ve been noticed and hopefully I can keep scoring runs for Yorkshire and you never know where that will take me in the next few years. I think one-day cricket is probably my strongest form of the game at the moment and if I can get in by scoring runs in all forms, that might be my way in.”He had extra responsibility here in the absence of Phil Jaques and Joe Sayers, who are both injured. It left Gale a batsman short and the early losses pushed Ballance into the fray earlier than has been usual. Yet he thrived, encouraging Lees to reveal his own ability to play through difficult conditions with discipline. Keith Barker, Chris Woakes, Boyd Rankin and Rikki Clarke make up a formidable seam attack but while they played and missed a few times neither Lees nor Ballance offered a chance until Lees edged Woakes to first slip soon after lunch.Adil Rashid fell to a poor shot, caught behind attempting to uppercut Rankin, and Clarke deservedly took the wickets of Azeem Rafiq and Andy Hodd. But there was no shifting Ballance, who drove handsomely on both sides of the wicket in amassing 13 fours before choosing the perfect moment to hit Jeetan Patel over the top for six, moving from 94 to 100 in doing so.Barker curtailed his progress eventually, dismissing him leg before in the fifth over with the new ball. It seemed at that moment that Yorkshire might fall away quickly, with not much more than 250 on the board, handing Warwickshire the initiative. But Steve Patterson and Jack Brooks took it back by adding 27 in the final eight overs.

– A mãe dele dizendo que o nome foi em minha homenagem. Agradeço sempre estas homenagens aos pais e vejo sempre a responsabilidade com cada passo que a gente dá nessa vida. Nesse tipo de homenagem, vemos o quanto de respeito, carinho e credibilidade essas famílias têm na gente – publicou Zico.

Na publicação, Zico reforçou a tristeza pelo acontecido e diz que, por conta de alguns treinos das categorias de base terem sido realizados no CFZ, ele havia tido contato com muitos atletas que estão sendo formados no Rubro-Negro.

Arthur Vínicius, era natural de Volta Redonda, Arthur estava no Flamengo desde 2015 e foi enterrado em sua cidade no sábado, data em que o zagueiro completaria 15 anos de idade. O jogador foi uma das dez vítimas do incêndio no Ninho do Urubu, na última sexta-feira, que ainda deixou três jovens feridos.

“Recebi agora aqui no Japão do meu filho Bruno essa foto com meu xará Arthur, de Volta Redonda, que Deus levou.

Alguns participaram da Copa Amizade Brasil Japão, que realizo todos os anos no CFZ em agosto. Também participaram de gravação no meu canal Zico 10, no Youtube, jogando Futmesa, além de estarem no clube do meu coração. Que Deus conforte essas famílias e receba os meninos com todo amor que eles merecem.”
