Swansea City manager Steve Cooper could be set to remain at the Liberty Stadium this summer.

What the talk?

That’s according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, who claimed in a post on Twitter that Cooper is not the first choice managerial target of the Crystal Palace hierarchy this summer, with the south London club currently searching for Roy Hodgson’s successor.

The 41-year-old has been heavily linked with the vacant job at Selhurst Park in recent weeks, but if Nixon is to be believed, the Swans boss is quite a way down on the list of Steve Parish’s targets for the Eagles.

In response to a question asking whether Palace are indeed interested in Cooper, Nixon said: “I would think he’s third or fourth choice currently.”

Fans will be buzzing

Considering the remarkable job the former England under-17 manager has done at Swansea since taking over at the club back in June of 2019, the news that the 41-year-old is not a favourite for the vacant position at Palace is sure to leave fans of the Swans buzzing.

Indeed, taking over a Swansea side which had finished 10th in the Championship in the 2018/19 season, Cooper led his team to a remarkable top-six finish in his debut campaign in Wales, with the Swans narrowly missing out the play-off final following a 3-2 aggregate loss to Brentford.

However, last season the 41-year-old managed to go one step further as, after a fourth-placed finish in the league and a 2-1 aggregate victory over Barnsley in the semi-finals, Swansea set up a play-off final clash with old nemeses Brentford.

Although his side were comfortably beaten by Thomas Frank’s men at Wembley a week ago, things at Swansea are nevertheless looking increasingly on the up under Cooper.

As such, losing the manager’s services to a Premier League side this summer would undeniably be a huge blow for the south Wales club, making the news that he is not currently considered a favourite for the role at Palace all the sweeter for the Swans fanbase.

David Norris believes it would be great business should Portsmouth re-sign Harvey White for next season.

The 19-year-old midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan from Tottenham and featured heavily under both Kenny Jackett and then Danny Cowley.

Whilst starts were few and far between, White made 21 League One appearances and scored his first professional goal in the victory at Oxford in February.

And with just two senior appearances under his belt at Spurs, the teenager is a certainty to be loaned out once again.

White recently said that he loved his time at Fratton Park, meaning a return could be on the cards, and it’s a deal that former midfielder Norris would like to see happen.

“If they could get him that would be a good signing,” he told The Transfer Tavern. “The couple of speak I spoke to said he looks hungry and wants to improve.

“And that is right up the Cowleys’ street, so I think that would be a very good signing, especially based on what he’s done so far.”

With Tottenham having an abundance of quality midfielders at the club, White is going to need further experience before he’s able to challenge for a regular first-team place.

And having made great strides at Pompey already, there’s perhaps no better place for him to continue his development.

وذكرت شبكة “ليفربول إيكو” الإنجليزية أنه من غير المحتمل أن يشارك محمد صلاح في مباراة الأحد المرتقبة بين ليفربول ونوتينجهام فورست.

وأفادت أن يورجن كلوب سيلجأ إلى بدائل هجومية أخرى بدلًا من الاعتماد على خدمات محمد صلاح أمام أصحاب الأرض.

يقول بيب جوارديولا المدير الفني لمانشستر سيتي، إن الطريقة التي يتعامل بها رياض محرز مع ضغط المباريات الكبيرة تميزه عن غيره من اللاعبين.

يعترف مدرب مانشستر سيتي أنه يطلب الكثير من الجناح الجزائري، لكنه معجب بقدرته على الإنجاز عندما يكون الأمر أكثر أهمية.

ويعتقد جوارديولا أن السيتي محظوظ لامتلاكه الجزائري ويقول إنه يستطيع رفع مستواه أكثر لاستعادة مستواه الرائع في الموسم السابق.

وأضاف: “إنه لاعب استثنائي، لاعب ترغب العديد من الفرق في الحصول عليه، لقد سجل الكثير من الأهداف، وينفذ ضربات الجزاء، ويقدم التمريرات الحاسمة وكل شيء، وجزء من ذلك هو الجودة، يقرأ المباراة بشكل مثالي عندما يضطر للهجوم أو إعطاء تمريرة إضافية”.

وأوضح: “لكنني لن أقول إنه أفضل موسم له أم لا لأنه لعب في الدوري الإنجليزي لعدة مواسم على مستوى عال، الموسم الماضي على سبيل المثال كان استثنائيًا”.

واختتم: “الربع الأخير من الموسم حتى النهاية كان مهمًا للغاية ويلعب بشكل جيد حقًا”.

Over the last few years, Nuno Santo and Jeff Shi have completely changed the face of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

They were taken from a middle of the road Championship club to one competing in the Europa League.

The way they’ve fallen away this season, therefore, has been completely out of turn with the high standards that they’ve set themselves.

They currently sit in the bottom half of the table and memories of European football have slipped away very quickly.

It’s been a difficult term to analyse. Without injuries, Wolves may well occupy a place in the top half still.

Raul Jimenez has been missing since November while he recovers from a fractured skull and during that time frame, the club’s out and out strikers have scored just four goals between them.

Fabio Silva has struggled to live up to his price tag, netting three times and Willian Jose only has one goal since penning terms in January.

It’s evident that Wolves need more firepower, especially with Pedro Neto now out for six months with a knee injury.

They could find that by targeting Tammy Abraham. According to Football Insider, Wolves are in the race to sign the Chelsea striker, alongside Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old has been bumped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this term but over the last 18 months he is their top scorer, netting more than Timo Werner this season.

Abraham netted 15 league strikes in 2019/20 and has six in 21 this term. That might not be the best tally but he’s still racked up an impressive 30 goals in Chelsea colours.

He is a particularly tricky forward to deal with, combining pace with brutal physicality and height that can blow away the opposition.

Throughout his career, he has won 2.2 aerial duels per match. Compare that to Jimenez and he’s ahead by 0.5. Thus, the Old Gold could find a very different offensive proposition by luring him to Molineux this summer.

They’d have more pace in behind and they’d also have a better target to aim for when delivering balls into the penalty area.

Dubbed “phenomenal” by Alex McLeish, Abraham is the type of player who could take Wolves back to Europe.

At the age of 23, he has a high ceiling and potential that could grow higher than Jimenez. The Mexican has been a great servant in the last couple of seasons but Wolves need further options to really take them to the next level.

Abraham has shown he can score goals on a regular basis at the highest level and would surely prosper under Nuno’s counter-attacking system.

Just imagine what he could do with the likes of Neto and Adama Traore running riot next to him.

After it was announced that Sergio Aguero will leave Manchester City in the summer earlier this week, there have been plenty of reports linking Pep Guardiola’s side with possible replacements.

However, City could be set to lose 18-year-old Liam Delap, who has been touted as a potential long-term replacement for the Argentine this summer, after it was reported that Real Madrid are considering a move for the teenager.

According to the Daily Star, the Spanish giants are weighing up a move for the former Derby County youngster, who has excelled in Manchester City’s academy sides since joining.

Despite only turning 18 in February, Delap has been a regular in City’s under-23 side this season and has been scoring for fun in the Premier League 2, with 20 goals in just 15 appearances so far this term.

His superb form in the academy has seen him make three senior appearances in Guardiola’s side this season, which included a debut goal in the 2-1 win against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season.

After scoring a brace for the under-18s earlier in the season, manager Carlos Vicens was full of praise for Delap, saying:

“We know Liam very well, I worked with him all last season and he’s a winner.

“He’s a guy who loves being around this group of players, enjoys being on the pitch and obviously with his passion, his energy, his power, he’s almost a guy that creates fear when he’s on the pitch.”

With only Gabriel Jesus currently available as a senior option up front for Guardiola ahead of next season, the Spanish manager will be desperate to keep hold of Delap, who is clearly destined for a big future with the Citizens, but he may well be tempted away by the glamour of Real Madrid.

Therefore, City should do everything they can to keep hold of the teenage striker, as Guardiola would surely not be happy if he were allowed to leave.

Speaking exclusively to the Transfer Tavern, Steve Bull said that Jose Mourinho’s fallout with Dele Alli is the root to his ongoing problems at Tottenham.

Mourinho’s side missed the chance to climb into the top four on Sunday after dropping more points at Newcastle late on, to leave them sixth in the Premier League table.

Both Newcastle goals were down to more poor defending from Spurs, meaning Harry Kane’s quick-fire brace counted for little at St James’ Park.

And Mourinho, like so often this season, blamed his players for their failure to see the game out which further dented their hopes of bringing Champions League football back to north London next term.

It means that Tottenham have now conceded nine times in the final 10 minutes of Premier League games this campaign, and the Spurs boss took little responsibility for the result by saying it’s the “same coach, different players”.

But whilst Mourinho has had several off the field issues this season, Bull believes that his problems started when Alli, who reportedly earns £100,000-a-week, fell out of favour and was dropped back in September.

He told the Transfer Tavern:

“When you have got faith in the players, the players have got faith in you, but if you lose that faith you chuck your dummy out the pram.

“Mourinho hasn’t got on with the players since Dele Alli chucked his dummy out the pram. Once you get a bad apple in the camp you’ve had it sour.

“He’s got to have a reshuffle over the summer and see who he wants and who he doesn’t want, and see if he can get his spark back.”
