Rangers launch NFT scheme

Many Glasgow Rangers fans have been left fuming as an official post from the club emerged.

As per the official website of the Ibrox faithful, the club have now launched a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) scheme to commemorate their 2020/21 title-winning season.

The tokens allow Light Blues supporters to be entered on a blockchain ledger of payments, and there are 1,111 in total.

Teddy Bears have four ways that they can be part of the club’s history through the purchase of NFT’s: ‘The Premiership Medal’, ‘The Invincibles Signed Shirt’, ‘The Champions Trophy Lift – Manager & Club Captain edition’ and ‘The Champions Trophy Lift’, which are all ranked in order of rarity.

While the opportunities given seem exciting on paper, a lot of Gers just see it as a money-making scheme, given the likely need to purchase several NFT’s to have a good chance of winning.

Stealing the title away from Celtic will always be a momentous occasion for the fans, but they want to concentrate on this season now and retain the trophy, rather than ostentatiously milk last term’s success.

Southampton fans rave over Watts news

Flocking to Twitter, many Southampton fans have shown their excitement as their club dropped an official announcement on academy talent Caleb Watts.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men, languishing near the bottom of the Premier League table, are yet to win a top flight match so far this season despite some solid performances against European sides like Man City, Man United and West Ham.

After losing key players such as Danny Ings and Jannik Vestergaard in the summer, this season could be a nervy one for supporters and club chiefs as they fight to maintain their English top flight status.

As such, any positive news is welcomed, and it appears there is some cause for celebration as the club drop an exciting announcement.

Indeed, Southampton have now confirmed that promising youngster Watts has put pen to paper on a contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2023.

His previous deal was set to expire at the end of this season but the 19-year-old has now signed fresh terms which will keep him at St Mary’s until the following summer.

Flocking to this development, many Saints supporters have raved about the news – find all of their best reactions from social media down below.

Ashley Preece reveals Matty Cash boost for Villa

The Birmingham Mail’s Ashley Preece has revealed a major injury boost for Aston Villa ahead of their Premier League game against Arsenal on Friday night.

What’s the story?

Dean Smith’s side slipped to an agonising late defeat against Wolves in the top-flight at the weekend, with Matty Cash one of the absentees from the match-day squad.

But now, during a Q&A for The Birmingham Mail, Preece has confirmed that the full-back should be all fine for the clash away at the Emirates later this week.

He said: “As someone has mentioned, expect Matty Cash to shake off a dead leg for Arsenal on Friday. Sanson back on the bench vs Wolves was a positive. It’s just Leon Bailey now with an update expected on Thursday via Smith’s presser.”

Dean Smith will be delighted

Speaking last season, former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips dubbed Cash as “sensational”, while adding: “Cash has come in and he has been flawless. He has taken to the club like a duck to water. You have to give credit to the player and the recruitment department. They have obviously done their homework. He has been one of their shining lights this season.”

Just a couple of weeks ago against Everton, the right-back finally got his first goal for the club, netting a thunderous strike off his weaker left foot in the 3-0 victory the Toffees at Villa Park.

The fact that he’s now being touted with an international call-up with Poland ahead of next year’s World Cup is a real statement on just how high his stock has risen, and full credit must be given to both him and Smith.

With Villa slipping to a disappointing defeat against Wolves, bouncing back with a positive result against Arsenal will be key, and Cash’s return is sure to have Smith buzzing.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa could have their own Raheem Sterling in this academy starlet…

Atacante do Avaí lamenta chance perdida no fim e diz: 'Está terrível'

O time ocupa a 19º colocação, tendo somado 18 pontos.

Man City fans praise Joao Cancelo

A number of Manchester City fans praised the performance of Joao Cancelo in their 2-0 win over Burnley at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne were on target for the Premier League champions as they kept on the coat-tails of Chelsea and Liverpool ahead of them in the table, but the contribution of their Portuguese full-back, who was switched over to the right flank yesterday, did not go unnoticed.

Nobody in Pep Guardiola’s side attempted more passes (98) or had more touches of the ball (125) than the 27-year-old, while he also won six duels and made three interceptions in a solid defensive display. Cancelo also delivered two successful crosses and seven accurate long passes. The only blot on his copybook was that he gave away possession 25 times in the match, more than anyone else who featured on Saturday. [SofaScore]

Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News wrote that the right-back was “involved in most of City’s best work” and enjoyed some “especially fruitful” link-up play with compatriot Bernardo.

Many of the club’s fans on Twitter were also hailing Cancelo after his performance against the Clarets, with one supporter describing him as a “baller”.

Jesse Lingard must start against West Ham

Manchester United host West Ham United in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has some big selection calls to make.

The Norwegian tactician has seen his side pick up 13 points from a possible 15 while on Premier League duties in the opening weeks of the new season, but a defeat to Young Boys in Europe has undermined their promising start.

Nevertheless, there’s been plenty of positives for the Red Devils too. Cristiano Ronaldo has bagged four goals in three games since returning to the club, summer signing Raphael Varane has made a very promising start to life in Manchester, and David de Gea has been rolling back the years in goal.

But arguably the most surprising aspect of United’s success is how Jesse Lingard has carried his outstanding form into 2021/22.

The 28-year-old massively struggled to produce positive displays for the Red Devils following the 2018 World Cup and scored just one top-flight goal in the entirety of 2019/20.

After failing to make a league appearance in the first half of last season, Lingard joined West Ham on loan last January and resurrected his career in emphatic fashion, bagging nine goals and providing five assists in just 16 appearances for the capital club.

There was much talk of Lingard leaving his boyhood club on a permanent basis over the summer after he entered the final year of his current contract, but Solskjaer decided to keep hold of the versatile forward, and now he’s being rewarded for doing just that.

In just 45 minutes of Premier League action, the England international has got on the scoresheet on two occasions, securing all three points for United against the Hammers with a stunning last-minute strike over the weekend.

And now the time has come for Lingard to be thrown in from the off, allowing him an opportunity to showcase his true ability in front of a packed Old Trafford.

With Marcus Rashford still injured, Edinson Cavani not yet at full fitness, Jadon Sancho still acclimatising to his new surroundings and Anthony Martial struggling for form, Lingard could be the main attacking threat in midweek for the 20-time English champions.

The £19.8m-rated wizard was labelled “outstanding” after firing the Hammers to sixth place last term, but now he must show he’s worthy of a place in Manchester United’s starting lineup against the east London outfit; Solskjaer just needs to give him the chance to do just that.
