Tottenham Hotspur fans have hailed the ball boy that proved integral to the club’s Champions League victory over Olympiacos earlier this week.

Teenager Callum Hynes, 15, showed some quick thinking against the Greek side, quickly receiving a new ball at a throw-in and giving it to Serge Aurier, whose early throw led to Son Heung-min crossing for Harry Kane to score.

That goal was Spurs’ equaliser, as they had fallen 2-0 behind in north London, and it proved critical in the turnaround, as they went on to win 4-2.

So impressive was young Callum’s intervention that manager Jose Mourinho gave him a high-five and a hug after the strike, even attempting to invite him to the dressing room after full-time.

And the schoolboy told the club’s official website: “It’s all a bit surreal. I was just doing my job and I still can’t quite believe what happened.

“I didn’t even see the goal! I was busy getting the ball that had come off and then I heard the cheer. I turned around and Harry was celebrating.

“I looked at the replay on the screen and watched exactly what happened. You can see from my smile it was just unbelievable. Jose didn’t have to do that. It was really nice of him to come over to me. It’s made my day, my life, really! I love Spurs and it was an amazing moment I’ll never forget.”

Spurs fans have subsequently taken to Twitter to hail the kid, who spent the journey home from the stadium revising for his maths exam the next morning!

Wolverhampton Wanderers were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening after defeat at the hands of their local rivals.

Nuno Santo named 11 changes to the side that drew with Newcastle United at the weekend with him primarily opting for a youthful-looking squad barring the likes of Patrick Cutrone, Ryan Bennett, and John Ruddy.

One fan blasted the 33-year-old saying he needs to retire and start his gardening career, which echoed the thoughts of another, who believed Ruddy had ‘no future’ at Wolves.

‘Shambolic’ and ‘lacklustre’ were just two of the other words used to describe his performance at Villa Park.

وعن تشبيه هدف حسام حسن بأغنية” خلوني ساكت”، علق فرج عامر: “شبهت الهدف بهذا التشبيه لأنني لسان حال حسام حسن أنه مهاجم جيد ويريد أن يقول أنا موجود ولدي إمكانيات وأتعرض لظلم واضح وأنضم إلى المنتخب ولا ألعب”.

وواصل: “أتمنى أن يرتدي حسام حسن قميص الأهلي، فهو لاعب مميز”.

واستمر: “حسام حسن يثق بي ويعتبرنى والده، واللاعب يمتلك عرضاً سعودياً وأخر إماراتياً ولو جاء له عرض من الزمالك سندرسه ولكن أتمنى أن يلعب للأهلي، ومفاوضات القطبين مع حسام لا تزال جارية فهو مهاجم متميز للغاية”.

وكان فرج عامر قد كشف في وقت سابق عن انضمام حسام حسن هداف الفريق صاحب الـ27 عامًا إلى الأهلي مقابل مليون دولار على سبيل الإعارة.

وشدد رئيس سموحة: “في حالة استمرار استبعاد ناصر ماهر من تشكيلة الأهلي سأطلب استعارته مجدداً لأن رحيله سبب لنا هزة في بداية الموسم”.

وأكد: “راهنت على حمد عبد القادر المعار من الأهلي، وأتوقع أن يزداد بريقه مع سموحة في الأسابيع المقبلة”.

وعن جلساته مع الخطيب وحسن حمدي وحسن مصطفى علق فرج عامر :” نجتمع على الخير دائماً ولم نفكر في الاجتماع لإيذاء أي شخص، تربطنا علاقات وطيدة وكذلك تجمعنا هواية الصيد، واليوم في الإسكندرية سيكونون على مائدتي للإفطار معي”.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast on behalf of the London Football Awards, Tony Cottee has revealed that he is concerned by Pablo Fornals’ start at West Ham, but insisted that the Spaniard should not be given up on.

Across the Premier League and Carabao Cup, Fornals has already made six starts and six more substitute appearances for the Hammers, but as of yet, has only managed a return of one goal, with that coming against Newport County, as per WhoScored.

Cottee has taken little encouragement from what he has seen of the 23-year-old since he was signed from Villarreal during the summer: “I’m concerned, obviously, because so far he’s really, really struggled with the pace of the Premier League.”

However, the former West Ham striker doesn’t think fans should be writing him off just yet: “What I will say is that he’s not alone in that. We’ve seen many players over the years who have struggled to start with in the Premier League.

“I can think of a young Thierry Henry, who I’m sure would tell you himself, found it very, very difficult the first three, four months of his time at Arsenal, look what a player he turned out to be.”

Henry managed to score just once in his first 12 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, before going on to amass 176 league goals for the North London club, as per Transfermarkt.

The lesson from this is not that Fornals is going to match the Frenchman, but that he should be afforded time, as Cottee explained: “I think everyone’s got to be patient with Pablo. It’s been tough for him, but when he gets these opportunities, you’ve got to try and take them.

“You just hope that maybe he’ll have a good game, maybe get a goal or something and then that’ll kick start his career but so far it’s been a really difficult start for him.”

There will need to be a drastic improvement from Fornals if he is to begin making a creative impact, as he is currently only averaging 0.6 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per league game.

Following the excitement of seeing him score twice and get an assist on his way to lifting the U21 Euros trophy during the summer, Fornals’ performances in claret and blue have been a bit anti-climactic so far.

Wolves have endured a rough start to the Premier League season, even though the table says they’ve lost just one match.

The strain of European football has clearly had an effect on Nuno Santo’s men as they’ve drawn their three other league matches, whilst in the Europa League they have won all six games, clinching a spot in the group stages.

The Portuguese boss needs their form in the competition to translate into top-flight results otherwise they’ll continue the worrying trend of teams struggling because of the added distractions.

Play through Adama Traore

Traore has been quite the revelation at right wing-back for Wolves this season after Santo converted him from a winger and occasional right-sided forward.

In the Europa League, the 23-year-old has recorded three assists in six matches but this form has only earned him one start in the Premier League to date, per Transfermarkt.

Considering Matt Doherty’s lack of fitness and the impact of Traore, it only makes sense to continue to let him thrive in the role going forward – something that Ian Wright has also mentioned this week.

Rotation will be vital

Last season, Santo very rarely tweaked his side – he had no reason to considering it was just the Premier League and the domestic cups.

He only used 21 different players and two of those can even be chalked off considering they featured for just one solitary minute all year.

That trend has continued, despite the club adding a couple of squad depth options in the likes of Patrick Cutrone, Pedro Neto and Jesus Vallejo.

The 45-year-old has utilised 17 players this season with nine of them featuring in all four Premier League matches so far.

Should they progress far in the Carabao Cup then two games per week will become very much the normality going into 2020. As a result, this key tactical tweak could be necessary on a regular basis.

Their Mexican striker has been prolific in Europe, scoring six goals in six appearances, but has netted just twice in the league – one of which was a last-minute penalty.

Against Everton, the 28-year-old managed 46 touches but just five of those came from inside the penalty area – that’s not a recipe for success based off his xG chart, per Understat.

The forward is for some reason struggling domestically and if Wolves want to get better, they’ll need their number nine on form.
