Abdul Rehman replaces Andy Flower as head coach of Multan Sultans

The franchise also parts ways with spin-bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed while bringing back Nathan Leamon as director of strategy

ESPNcricinfo staff07-Sep-2023Abdul Rehman, a stalwart of the Pakistani domestic coaching circuit, has been promoted to Multan Sultans’ head coach after serving as the team’s assistant coach for the last five years. He replaces former Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batter Andy Flower at the helm.Rehman, currently the assistant coach of Pakistan men’s team, had joined Multan in 2018. Under Flower and him, the team reached the final of the last three PSL editions and won the tournament in 2021.”The past five years have been a great journey for the Multan Sultans and I am privileged to have been part of it,” Flower said. “When I agreed to join the Sultans, my first request was for Abdul Rehman to be my assistant coach. He is an exceptional coach and a consummate professional, and I am confident the team will benefit with him at the helm.”A month ago, Flower, who is one of the most decorated coaches in the game, was appointed head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL for a three-year term. Till the end of IPL 2023, he was head coach of Lucknow Super Giants and under him, the franchise made back-to-back playoffs in their first two years in the competition.”It is an honour to be carrying forward Andy Flower’s legacy at the Multan Sultans,” Rehman said. “Together with our leadership team, our coaching and support teams, we look forward to taking Multan Sultans forward with passion and innovation.”Multan have also parted ways with Mushtaq Ahmed, who was their spin-bowling coach for the last four years. They have also brought on board Nathan Leamon as Multan’s director of strategy. Leamon had worked closely with England across all three formats from 2009 for more than a decade. He has also worked exclusively with the white-ball teams since 2016, and had spent time with Multan in 2019 and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.Recently, Multan also became the first T20 franchise in Pakistan with a female general manager.

Jos Buttler concedes decision to bowl first in Mumbai was 'potentially' a mistake

“It leaves us with no room for error, we have to probably win every game from here on in”

Jos Buttler admitted that England had “potentially” made a mistake when choosing to bowl first on the way to a 229-run thrashing by South Africa at the Wankhede, before conceding his team will likely need to “win every game from here on in” to keep their World Cup defence alive.Asked to bat first in Mumbai, South Africa piled up 399 for 7 during their 50 overs despite losing a wicket to the second ball of the innings, with Heinrich Klaasen’s 61-ball hundred building on top-order half-centuries from Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen. Marco Jansen also struck 75 off 42 balls as he and Klaasen added 151 in 12.4 overs for the sixth wicket.By that stage, England’s players were visibly wilting in the heat. The bowlers made regular trips off the field, with Adil Rashid suffering from an upset stomach and David Willey felled by cramp during one over. In addition, Reece Topley suffered a suspected broken finger when fielding the ball in his follow through, and had to leave for treatment with one ball of his fourth over unbowled. When asked at the post-match presentations whether bowling first was a mistake, Buttler said: “Yeah, potentially. You always look back and reflect on the decisions you make. Obviously incredibly tough conditions here in the heat, we saw that with the boys in the field. Everyone put in a great shift. I still believe if it was 340-350 and we got off to a good start it would have been a great chase. But yeah, potentially should have batted first with the heat.”Related

Aiden Markram, standing in as captain for South Africa due to Temba Bavuma suffering from illness, said they had been “slightly” surprised by Buttler’s call. “We know England do like chasing,” he said. “We were going to bat first. Happy that it worked out the way it did, we felt comfortable doing that and I think it helped us a lot that our big quicks weren’t in the sun cooking.”Although Topley returned to deliver another five overs with a strapped finger, he looks set to be ruled out for the rest of the tournament. With three defeats in their first four matches, the defending champions are already in a struggle to qualify for the semi-finals via a place in the top four.”It leaves us with no room for error, we have to probably win every game from here on in,” Buttler said. “That’s the situation we find ourselves in.”England made three changes for the game, having suffered a shock defeat to Afghanistan in their previous outing. Ben Stokes was fit to make his first appearance of the tournament, while Willey and Gus Atkinson both made World Cup debuts, as Liam Livingstone, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran made way.Buttler denied that the changed personnel contributed to England’s poor showing, as South Africa recovered from losing Quinton de Kock early to post the second-highest total of this edition of the World Cup.”I don’t think so. Throughout the first innings, lots of things didn’t quite go to plan. We started nicely, [but] Reece picked up that injury and then the unknown as to whether he’d come back or not, trying to fiddle a few overs in. Those kind of things, couple of guys struggling with the heat, etc. So it was a tough 50 overs there, the boys fought hard, a lot of effort.”I thought if we could have restricted them to 340-350, probably on this pitch it would have been a really good chase. They just got away from us there at the end.”Having been baked out in the middle during the hottest part of the day, England were quickly cooked during their chase, slipping to 38 for 4 inside the powerplay on the way to their heaviest defeat by runs in ODIs.”[It was] certainly tough, the humidity and the cramps and all the other challenges – yeah, it was tough,” Buttler said. “We needed to get off to a really good start, chasing a score like that. The ball did a bit, a couple of dismissals, caught down the leg side, caught leg slip – when those kind of things start happening you feel like the writing’s on the wall a bit.”

'You play for something more' – Dominant Diego Luna helps overcome gonzo Guatemala crowd, pressure-packed moments: Winners and losers as USMNT reach Gold Cup final

In an emotionally charged match, Luna silenced the crowd with two goals in the first 15 minutes, putting U.S. in final

ST. LOUIS – Less than a year into his U.S. men's national team tenure, coach Mauricio Pochettino is encountering some things for the first time. Wednesday night was the latest example. When he and the U.S. walked out for their Gold Cup semifinal, they weren't greeted by red, white and blue – they were overwhelmed by blue and white, horns and chants of "Si Se Puede" ringing out throughout Energizer Park.

These weren't the colors of Pochettino's native Argentina, but rather of Guatemala, the Central American nation that took over this city. Still, despite the cheers and the chanting and the excitement, there's only one of the two teams bound for a Gold Cup final. And it's not Guatemala.

The U.S. found their win, riding two first-half Diego Luna goals to defeat Guatemala, 2-1, and advance to Sunday's deciding game in Houston, where they will face Mexico for the eighth time in a Gold Cup final.

It was an emotionally charged match from the first whistle, although Luna did seemingly silence the crowd with two goals in the first 15 minutes. Guatemala, though, wouldn't give up and, with the backing of their fans, they had no reason to.

"This was good for our players because when you talk about the future, about seeing the team and how to fight, how to come here, how their fans behave, that is an important thing we have to learn in this country," Pochettino said. "I am not telling anyone to do this or do that. No, we talk about culture. I come from Argentina. In Argentina, it's not the same. We don't lose, because the consequences were massive."

The U.S. didn't lose. They kept their tournament going, earning a fifth straight win after losing four in a row entering the Gold Cup. The final will also present a hostile atmosphere, one that will be even louder and fiercer than Wednesday night.

Pochettino and his team believe they're ready for it, though. Having cleared their latest hurdle, the USMNT have a chance both to make a statement and to lift a trophy.

"Winning helps," said Tim Ream. "I also think guys like Diego Luna help, guys like Malik Tillman. You're seeing these guys get more and more experience and understanding of how to win games. None of this is going to happen unless we win and continue to win. And, for us, what's the hallmark of a U.S. team? Fighting and togetherness. That's what we're finding and doing in this tournament."

GOAL breaks down the winners and losers from Energizer Park.

Getty ImagesWINNER: Diego Luna

Throughout his young UMSNT career, Luna had influenced games, but he had yet to truly take one over. There were big plays here, an assist there, his goal against Costa Rica – all moments in which he'd make a mark. But this was more. This was domination.

It took just four minutes for Luna to find the back of the net, easing any nerves that anyone in the U.S. may have had. It was a finish defined by Luna's biggest asset: his hustle. Once Kenderson Navarro spilled Luca de la Torre's shot, there was no doubt who'd be the first one to it.

His second, though? A thing of beauty. After dribbling right on past a defender, Luna rocketed a shot into the back of the net. His shot wasn't curled or placed; it was thumped via sheer force of will. His celebration was as emphatic as his finish. Rightfully so.

"It’s an honor, I’m extremely grateful," he told Fox Sports of sporting the U.S. crest. "Every single one of these players think about it the same way I do. This is the No. 1 dream we’ve had as a kid and we’re going to fight for this to have as many chances to wear it as we can."

Time and time again, Luna continues to prove he's the man for the big moments. And with bigger opportunities ahead, there's no doubt about whether Luna should be involved.

AdvertisementGetty ImagesLOSER: Tim Ream

Everyone has an off game now and then, including 38-year-old veterans.

Ream, to be fair, didn't even have an off game, but rather an off half. For the first time in recent memory, Ream looked a step off in the first half this semifinal, and he was beaten several times by Guatemala's attackers. Rubio Rubin, who once played for the USMNT, got him once, forcing a tough save out of Matt Freese.

And there was a shaky moment a few minutes later that again led to a Guatemala chance. In the second half, though, Ream cleaned it up. Still, if Guatemala had a bit more quality, the U.S may have been punished. Ream knows that as well as anyone. He's been doing this for a long time and, if all goes well, he tends to do this a little bit longer. He certainly has the quality and smarts.

"I love watching these guys grow up right before my eyes, starting to understand and create connections," Ream said. "It's those two things that are worth keeping at it: these atmospheres and helping these guys become better players and better people. That's what putting on this jersey is all about and the pride that I have for it will never change. It won't change until I'm done, completely done. I'm so happy with this group and happy that I can still help."

Ream can still help. He's been proving it for years and has continued proving it all summer long. That doesn't mean he's immune from an off night, and this was a reminder of that.

Getty ImagesWINNER: Guatemala fans

All tournament long, the Gold Cup has been criticized for a lack of atmosphere. There are reasons for that: ticket prices, the ongoing Club World Cup, the upcoming World Cup.

But make no mistake – the atmosphere on Wednesday night was electric. The traveling Guatemala fans ensured that was the case.

The nation's supporters were loud and proud in Minneapolis for their win over Canada in the quarterfinals, seemingly willing their team to victory in the upset of the tournament. On Wednesday night, they were even louder. The crowd in St. Louis was largely pro-Guatemala and, even hours before the opening kick, they made themselves heard.

It didn't result in victory this time, but credit to Guatemala's fans for their energy. This game and this tournament were made better by it.

"It was an unbelievable energy, and that is football," Pochettino said after the game. "That is football! When we see the connection between the fans and the team, that is the connection that we want to see in the World Cup. We can talk about soccer, many things, different sports. But we cannot compere football to another sport.

"Do you think today was just a sport? Just a team playing? No, you play for something more. You play to be happy, be sad. I saw players from Guatemala crying. That is the way that we need to feel, and our fans need to feel the same. It's good for our players, because when we talk about culture, that is culture. That is an important thing that we need to learn here in this country."

Getty ImagesLOSER: U.S. control

In a perfect world, the U.S. would have been able to see out the game easily. They would have found a third, maybe a fourth goal and put this game to bed. Even if they couldn't find it, they would want to keep some semblance of control, allowing them to play through the match on their terms.

That didn't happen. The moment Guatemala scored, and even at times before it, the U.S. lost control of the game. Guatemala couldn't quite seize it, but again, the U.S. didn't make this easy for themselves.

"It's a learning experience," Ream said. "Will it all happen as quickly in the next game as it did today after the second goal? Probably not. I think the guys understand it better. They can say, 'OK, I do actually have more time than I realize.' It's just talking about experience and it comes with playing in these environments and in these games."

Some of it was, as Ream said, inexperience. Some of it was personnel. Tyler Adams was taken off in the second half as a precaution as he dealt with hamstring tightness, leaving the U.S. without its most veteran presence in midfield. When John Tolkin went into the game, the U.S. was playing with two left-backs, which led to some moments of chaos before Walker Zimmerman replaced Max Arfsten to settle things down.

"In that moment, the stress and the noise make it a difficult moment," Pochettino said. "What you need to understand is how difficult it is to come off the bench in that moment. It's not easy. The rhythm of the game was really fast and it was difficult to communicate. It's not easy."

As Ream said, the U.S. need to slow things down. They need to breathe, take back control and see things out. Their inabilty to do that made this game more stressful than it should have been – he U.S. just needed to keep things tighter.

Athapaththu stars again in powerful Sydney Thunder display

The Sri Lankan allrounder made short work of the chase on a cool, blustery day

Tristan Lavalette26-Oct-2023Chamari Athapaththu smashed a blistering half-century after she produced a disciplined performance with the ball as Sydney Thunder comprehensively beat Melbourne Renegades at a gloomy Cricket Central ground.Having taken 1 for 20 off four overs to help restrict Renegades, Athapaththu tore into the bowling in her 54-ball whirlwind of 80 as Thunder reached the target in the 18th over.Athapaththu traded mostly in boundaries and none was more impressive than when she whacked offspinner Ella Hayward for a massive straight six to reach her half-century in style. She holed out in the 14th over, but Thunder continued on their merry way to start the season with consecutive wins coming off last season’s wooden spoon.Renegades had few answers with the ball as they suffered a letdown following their thrashing of defending champions Adelaide Strikers. With rain having fallen throughout the day in Sydney, there were fears of a washout but the match started on schedule and Thunder elected to bowl in bleak and blustery conditions. It wasn’t easy for the batters with seamer Marizanne Kapp in her season debut proving difficult to attack with the ball coming off the wicket slowly.Opener Hayley Matthews, who has yet to get going with the bat this tournament, backed her aggressive approach against Kapp but it was fraught with danger in the tricky conditions. She got away with a skier that landed safety in the third over before a few balls later slogging Kapp straight to cover.Debutant quick Ebony Hoskin had a dream start after coming on in the seventh over when she had Josie Dooley caught behind with a brilliant delivery that swung late to hit the edge. With Kapp providing her words of wisdom, the 20-year-old Hoskin showed no signs of nerves and showcased her renowned energy in an impressive debut.Hoskin bowled just one more over in the innings as Thunder relied on Athapaththu’s accurate offspin to tie Renegades down.Renegades couldn’t get going in the first half of their innings with Tammy Beaumont brilliantly run out by a direct throw from Phoebe Litchfield at cover. They looked to Harmanpreet Kaur and Courtney Webb after their match-winning near century stand against Strikers.Harmanpreet’s fluent touch continued as she made a mockery of the conditions with two boundaries off her first three balls before Athapaththu had her caught behind after she played loosely outside off stump. But Webb found much-needed support from Georgia Wareham in a 78-run partnership and they capitalised on increasingly ragged Thunder bowling and fielding.Wareham superbly attacked on the leg side during the power surge and smashed three consecutive boundaries off seamer Hannah Darlington in the 15th over.Wareham needed a boundary off the final delivery of the innings to reach a deserved half-century, but could only score a single.Any confidence Renegades had of mustering a strong defence of the total was quickly eroded by a rampaging Athapaththu as Thunder cruised to victory amid the drizzle.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The report further adds that the Bavarians have already sent an offer for the 31-year-old Bonmann, who was contracted to Dortmund between 2013 and 2018 but failed to make a single appearance for the first team. The transfer fee Bayern plan to pay has not been disclosed yet, but the Bulgarian outfit have already started looking for replacements for their No. 1.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Bayern have been keen on finding their Neuer successor over the past few months, despite the fact that the legendary goalkeeper signed an extension until the end of the 2025-26 season. He will turn 40 next year, and Die Roten have been linked with names such as Brighton's Bart Verbruggen. Over the course of the 2024-25 season, Neuer was subjected to criticism owing to a decline in his displays, while also battling fitness issues which prompted the iconic Oliver Kahn to urge Neuer to retire from the sport "for his own good."

    WHAT NEXT?

Currently, the Bundesliga champions have the likes of Sven Ulreich, Daniel Peretz, Leon Klanac, and Jonas Urbig on the first team roster. Urbig, who was signed from Koln in January, was given plenty of chances by head coach Vincent Kompany in the injury-enforced absence of Neuer. Regardless, the 21-year-old is believed to remain an understudy to the former German international, and could even be relegated in the pecking order should Bonmann arrive.

Paras Mhambrey relieved to have a fully fit India attack: 'It's tough to miss out on someone like Bumrah'

The relief is palpable when you ask India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey about finally getting to work with a full-strength bowling unit. India have been going through a freakish run of injuries for the best part of three years now, but getting Jasprit Bumrah back for the World Cup is a blessing India were beginning to prepare to live without.”Ask me about it, man,” Mhambrey, making no attempt to hide his relief, said, when asked how good it was to finally get the full band back together. “It has been tough. The last couple of years, it has been really tough. It is tough to miss [out on] someone like Bumrah. You have seen him in the last three games that he has played. What he brings to the table. He is a world-class bowler. He gives you that breakthrough that you require in the powerplays. He’s well adapted to bowl in the middle overs and he’s a top, gun death bowler. We really missed him.”A World Cup without Bumrah was not just a nightmare or a thought but a distinct reality. Mhambrey credited the medical staff both at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and with the team for the return of Bumrah.Related

“We must credit the staff back at the NCA, the medical department, the physios out there, and out here as well,” Mhambrey said. “And they really worked hard behind the scenes for the last few years, from where he was and to get him out here. So, credit goes to them as well.”While Bumrah was sidelined, going in for surgery to recover from a stress fracture of the back, Mohammed Siraj had the opening to emerge as a world-class ODI bowler. Siraj hasn’t quite maintained the form he was in coming into the World Cup, but the team management was impressed with how he pulled his length back and made a comeback in the match against Pakistan after conceding 18 in his first two overs.Mohammed Siraj didn’t have the best of starts against Pakistan but came back with key wickets•AFP/Getty Images

One possible reason why Siraj has not been at his best is that this lot of balls is hardly swinging. In the lead-up to the World Cup, the balls were moving a lot more and for longer for the quicks, allowing Siraj to become the threat he was. His economy of 6.46 and average of 50.66 so far this tournament sit in contrast with the figures of the rest of India’s bowlers. If there has been one criticism of India’s superb campaign so far, it has probably been that Siraj has been slow at adjusting to the lack of swing. However, India are unlikely to lose sleep over it. Firstly because their solid attack allows them to have one bowler go for runs. Secondly Siraj did begin to make the adjustment needed against Pakistan.More importantly, perhaps, India’s next set of matches features the only venues where the ball has swung properly this World Cup. They will face New Zealand in Dharamsala and England in Lucknow, two venues where fast bowlers have found some joy. Even the match against Bangladesh will be played in Pune, which is an open venue, bereft of high stands or roofs blocking the wind.Mhambrey did speak about having to leave Mohammed Shami out, a bowler who can use the new ball and has one of the best strike rates in ODI cricket. “It is never an easy decision,” Mhambrey said. “But I think the conversations are around, we had a clear chat with him. Whenever we select a squad, the message from us is very clear. That we pick a squad we feel is the best for that wicket.”And I think sometimes you will miss out. Someone like him is missing out, someone like Ash [R Ashwin] will miss out. And that’s the communication that we have with him. We are very clear. Difficult decision, honestly, given the quality that he [Shami] brings to the team, new ball, death, it is difficult to take that decision. But you have to take that decision, you only have 11 on the field.”The fourth specialist bowler will continue to be someone who can also contribute with the bat: Shardul Thakur or Ashwin. While Ashwin can use the breeze to his advantage, Pune still might be a ground that favours the extra seamer because of its short boundaries and historically flat pitch.”It’s been a really tough one when you have a world-class bowler amongst your 15 and are unable to… we don’t get an opportunity to give him a game,” Mhambrey said of Ashwin. “That’s a tough call, you have to take that tough call. But for us, the conversation has always been around the team, not only prior to this game, but the last few years.”We go with the best combination for the surface. In that sense, he’s been a great lad. He understands that, he’s a great team guy. I’ve never seen him grumpy; I haven’t seen him complaining any time for any of the last few years that he’s been with us.”So having someone like that, a team guy in a team really helps. The credit goes to him. Even after so many years, he’s there, he wants to do well for the team, he turns up every practice session, goes through the rigorous grind, and he keeps bowling.”

Cook: Everyone has respect for the way Netherlands have played

“I have actually had a few teams’ coaches approach me and ask about our schedule and how potentially they could fit into their schedule”

Ryan Cook, the Netherlands head coach, believes his side has earned the respect of opponents for their style of play and ability to compete for long periods.Ahead of their ninth and final World Cup fixture, against India in Bengaluru, Cook looked back on the growth of his side over the past two months with fondness, while also giving an honest account of their shortcomings.”It goes without saying that the guys have put in some really good performances both individually and as a team, both batting and bowling and fielding,” he assessed. “So, I think everyone has gone in a respect for the way that we’ve played our cricket and the style in which we’ve gone about it.”And that’s been really pleasing to see from a coaching perspective. The guys have improved a lot in terms of all their different habits that they have in their training and refining our processes and the tournament has been very good for us in that regard.”Prior to the World Cup, Cook had implored the bigger teams for some game time. When they didn’t get that, they were forced to come to India in October without having played an official ODI since their heroics at the Qualifiers in Zimbabwe in June. But now, things are looking up.”I have actually had a few teams’ coaches approach me and ask about our schedule and how potentially they could fit into their schedule, so that bodes well,” Cook revealed. “But I know the international schedules are quite full.Related

“But again, we would obviously love to play as many teams as possible. We’ve shown that we can compete for long periods of the game, and obviously by playing games against these teams, we’re going to be able to compete better for longer.”Cook admitted the scrapping of the ODI Super League – of which Netherlands were a part between 2020 and 2023 – was a big blow. However, there’s hope yet, with the ICC set to discuss the issue at its annual conference slated for later in the month. As things stand, the Super League isn’t part of the next cycle, with the participants for the 2027 World Cup to be decided based on the ODI rankings. This means there is no imperative for teams to play a set number of matches in the next four years. Associate nations, like Netherlands, will be hit hardest as they aren’t guaranteed a fixed number of games (it was 24 in the Super League cycle).”Yeah, I think the Super League was really influential for the players and they often refer back to those as reference points that they’ve had playing in different countries, playing against some of the top teams in the world,” Cook said. “And I think it’s probably one of the reasons why we sit in the position that we’re in today to be competing at the World Cup.”The guys get better playing better opposition[s] and obviously the more of those opposition[s] we can play, it will be handy for us. I think we had a situation where after the qualifiers we had no cricket against any – we just had Karnataka that we played against.Ryan Cook coaches Bas de Leede•ICC/Getty Images

“And probably in hindsight, we missed a couple of fixtures to refine our skills and get ourselves going in terms of quality fixtures that we had. Those two games [against Karnataka] were really good, but probably not quite enough for preparation for a World Cup like this. And that was no fault of our own. We tried our best to try and get as many fixtures as we could. But obviously, as we said, the schedules are quite packed.”So, yeah, the Super League is obviously a blow for us, but again, there’s nothing stopping a bilateral series happening between two countries in ODI cricket or in T20 cricket as we move towards the T20 World Cup as well. They will be up against the good teams again and obviously we’ll be trying to prepare as well as we can for that tournament.”Cook was also forthright in talking about Netherlands’ shortcomings, without using their circumstances or scheduling as an excuse. “We need to be better for longer, whether that’s with the bat or with the ball,” he said. “I think we’ve shown glimpses of great periods of play. Some of those periods have been 20-30-40 overs long, but an ODI is 100 overs long.”In the field, I think the guys have stuck with it really well. I think we’ve shown ourselves to be one of the best fielding teams in this competition. And they put a lot of pride into that. And we put a lot of time and effort into that because it is one area that we can compete in. And you’ll see it every training session that we have. We always do fielding and the guys are always improving that aspect.”Cook was particularly effusive in his praise for the group’s camaraderie and commitment, which has helped them tide over some tough losses. “I’ve been very proud personally of the effort that all the guys have put in,” he said. “We are on the last leg [of the tournament], but you would never know that by being in and around the team.”You’d never sort of see a dull moment, the connection between the group, the cohesion, the unity that we stand for is probably even stronger than it’s ever been. So, I think that goes to show the kind of culture that we have and how we are learning and how it isn’t so much about the results as it is about the progression at this stage of our development as a team.”Netherlands came in wanting to shed this tag of being called Associates. This, Cook felt, had the potential to undermine their belief and play a certain way. They spoke often about the semi-finals being a realistic goal. While that couldn’t be achieved, Cook was happy that they will leave India knowing they’re a far better team than the one that arrived mid-September.”Yeah, I mean, obviously, would we have wanted to sort of be in those semi-final spaces come tomorrow? Yes, I’m sure we would have. But I think the guys take valuable lessons away and the relationships that we’ve been able to develop have been really strong. I think we’ve also learned a lot of lessons around how we should prepare for these types of conditions.”We came out to Bangalore [Bengaluru] twice, which was a great experience for us. And that was sort of a mind-opening and eye-opening experience for everyone. And yeah, if we’d had a few more games in the subcontinent, I think probably we would have come in a little bit better prepared. But nonetheless, we had what we had and the guys, as you say, have been putting in the full effort that they can every game that they play, every training session that they come to. So very proud as a coach in that regard.”
