Who's hot, who's not? INDIVISA ranks all 14 teams across the National Women's Soccer League
The international break proved to be good for some of the NWSL teams, but troubling for others. The Kansas City Current continued their winning ways, earning their fourth-straight victory. The Current knocked off Gotham FC at home, 2-1, thanks to goals from Michelle Cooper and Temwa Chawinga
Meanwhile, the San Diego Wave fell to Seattle Reign, just their first loss in seven games. Despite falling 2-1, the Wave continued their case as best offensive team in the league, outshooting the Reign and dominating the possession with 63 percent.
Problems continue for Utah, who made a promising start against Racing Louisville, scoring first, before falling 3-2. The Chicago Stars also put in a strong performance against Angel City, finishing the game level 2-2.
So, who's leading the pack, and who's falling short of expectations? INDIVISA presents the latest 2025 NWSL Power Rankings.

Titans are through, Sunrisers and Capitals are out, the seven remaining teams are not out of the race yet
S Rajesh14-May-2023 • Updated on 16-May-2023Chennai Super Kings
Super Kings’ loss to Kolkata Knight Riders means they are not yet assured of qualification, and even if they win their last game – away against Delhi Capitals – they might still not finish among the top two, though they will be assured of qualifying for the playoffs. If they lose to Capitals then Super Kings could be knocked out, as five teams can potentially finish on more than 15 points. However, if other results go their way, then Super Kings could finish second without adding to their tally.Mumbai Indians
After a slow start, Mumbai Indians have come into their own and seem to be peaking at the right time with four wins in their last five. Wins in their last two matches will guarantee them a top-two finish. If they lose one and finish on 16 then they will be depending on other results to qualify: they could go through without NRRs coming into play, or they could get embroiled in an NRR battle for the final spot with two other teams. If they lose both, though, then qualification hopes will be extremely slim: three teams would already be on 15 or more points, and Mumbai Indians could be fighting for the fourth slot with as many as four other teams and a poor NRR.Lucknow Super Giants
Super Giants need to win their last two matches to be assured of the qualifying. If they lose one, they can still qualify without depending on NRRs, if other results fall in place. However, there is also a possibility of four other teams apart from Titans – Super Kings, Mumbai, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings – all finishing on 16 or more points. If they lose both their matches, Super Giants will be eliminated.Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers’ stunning win against Rajasthan Royals has lifted them to fifth on the table, and boosted their NRR from -0.345 to 0.166. As mentioned earlier, 16 could still be a crowded place on the table, but Royal Challengers will definitely be in the mix, especially given that their NRR is now better than that of Mumbai Indians and Kings, two other teams who could finish on 16. However, if Royal Challengers lose one of their two remaining games and stay on 14, then they will need several results to go their way to ensure that one spot is still available for a team on 14 points. If it comes to that, the NRR boost they got from their astonishing win against Royals could be the clincher.Rajasthan Royals
Royals’ brutal hammering at the hands of Royal Challengers has caused their NRR to plummet from an impressive 0.633 to 0.140. They could still qualify, though, if they beat Punjab Kings in their last game, and if other results fall in their favour. Their best chance is if Royal Challengers, Super Giants and Kings lose their last two, and if Sunrisers lose their last game, against Mumbai. Then, the fourth position will be a straight battle between Royals and Knight Riders, which Royals should win on NRR, even after the beating it has taken.Punjab Kings
Kings are one of five remaining teams that could finish on 16 or more points. That means they are very much in contention for a top-four finish, but they might need some help from other teams, as well as relatively big margins of victories: their NRR is currently lower than that of all the other teams who could finish on 16 or more points. If they lose a game, then they could be battling for one spot with as many as four teams. Their two remaining matches are at home, but in Dharamsala, not Mohali.Kolkata Knight Riders
Their victory against Super Kings keeps Knight Riders in the hunt, though there’s only a slim chance that they will finish among the top four with 14 points. For that to happen, they will have to win their last game – at home against Super Giants – and then hope that not more than three teams go beyond 14. One of the ways that could happen is if Super Giants lose their last two, and if Royal Challengers and Punjab Kings lose at least one of their remaining matches. Then, there could between two to four teams on 14 fighting for one spot, which will bring NRR into focus: Knight Riders’ is currently on -0.256, and they have only one game to improve that.
Andrea Berta was officially announced as Arsenal’s new sporting director on Sunday afternoon, signalling a new era at the Emirates Stadium.
The exit of Edu towards the end of last year came as a shock to many at the club but for some, that has been a positive, chiefly Mikel Arteta who has now found himself with more power behind the scenes.
Upon Berta’s arrival, it was reported that the Italian was Arteta’s choice and that’s important considering they will have to mutually agree on how to strengthen the club.
While Edu was central to deals for players like Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, he was also to blame for a poor summer window in 2024, ultimately his final venture with the Gunners.
The north Londoners have failed to sign a much-needed centre forward in the last two windows and that will be Berta’s first priority when he sits down to discuss this summer’s business.
Alexander Isak is a key target while Viktor Gyokeres’ popularity is growing among Arsenal’s recruitment team.
The latest on Viktor Gyokeres' move to Arsenal
Many a striker has been linked with the Gunners over the last year, notably Newcastle’s Isak.
Yet, with a £150m asking price, a deal seems highly unlikely to be negotiated.
Newcastle United's AlexanderIsakcelebrates scoring their second goal
RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is another highly touted with the club but there’s a new target in the club’s crosshairs.
That’s according to the Athletic’s David Ornstein who reported over the weekend that Arsenal are ‘developing a strong interest in Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres’.
It’s noted that Gyokeres has long been admired by Arsenal’s new sporting director and as a result, he is expected to feature prominently among the names that the Gunners consider over the summer.
While signing a striker is a big priority for Arteta and Co, there’s a key target emerging in another area of the pitch.
£51m star is reportedly on his way to Arsenal
Signing Gyokeres would be hugely exciting but there is also the need to improve in midfield with the likes of Thomas Partey and Jorginho out of contract this summer.

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.
Mikel Merino was acquired nearly a year ago but hasn’t set the world alight as a number 8, forcing Rice to play further forward.
As a consequence of all of that, Arsenal have been looking to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi
Reports over the winter suggested that Arsenal had been working on a deal to bring the Spaniard to the club and that a move was advanced.
Since then, several claims have indicated that he’s set to come to English football in a few months’ time, with Arsenal leading the race for his signature.
Now, according to a new report in Spain, a move looks all but official. Via Marca, Spanish journalist Oscar Badallo reported during Sociedad’s latest game with Real Valladolid that the 26-year-old is “on his way to Arsenal.”
Martin Zubimendi
Previous reports have suggested a deal could be done in the region of £51m, which is the player’s release clause.
How Gyokeres and Zubimendi would benefit Arsenal
Arsenal have not been too far off winning the league over the last three seasons but there’s always been a feeling that they’re just a couple of players short.
The attack has been one of the biggest problems, notably this season, where main man Bukayo Saka has missed the last three months with a hamstring problem.
Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are also out for the season, which after Arsenal didn’t sign a new striker in January has led to Merino filling the void.
So, adding a centre forward has always been the primary objective. To be quite honest, it doesn’t necessarily matter who they sign because anyone would be an upgrade on makeshift Merino.
However, with Isak looking off the table due to his price tag, Gyokeres would surely be the next best thing. Why? Well, he’s one of the most prolific forwards in the game.
In fact, across all first division football worldwide in 2024, no player scored more than Gyokeres’ 36 goals.
Added to that, the Swedish powerhouse is the sixth-highest goal scorer in first division football throughout 2025, finding the net on 12 occasions in ten games.

He’s certainly a freak of nature when it comes to scoring goals, beating the goalkeeper on 42 occasions in as many games this season.
So, on that basis, he could well be the missing piece of the puzzle as far as Arsenal are concerned.
However, in order for the former Coventry City star to get those goal-scoring opportunities, he needs his teammates to exert control and in Zubimendi, they’d get that in abundance.
Described as “one of the best central midfielders in the world” by Spain boss Luis de la Fuente, he could be the Rodri-esque signing Arsenal could make in order to take their team to the next level.
He’s a Jorginho-type sitting midfielder who has a beautiful passing range, knows how to evade the press and can playmake from deep. He’s like Rodri, just a little less physical.
Boasting a fine all-round game, the Spain international ranks within the best 15% of midfielders in LaLiga for progressive passes per 90 minutes this season, the top 18% for aerial duels won and the best 6% for take-on success.
What we can establish from that is that he’s a capable dribbler, he doesn’t back out from duels and he can play the ball forward. Very often sitting players like Zubimendi can be criticised for playing sideways but that certainly isn’t the case here. He ranks in the top 21% of positionally similar players in Spain’s top-flight for passes into the final third per 90.
On this evidence, Gyokeres need not worry about the speed of Arsenal’s transition from defence to attack. You take a look at Zubimendi, Rice and Martin Odegaard and see three players who want to pass forward.
These potential arrivals could be game-changers in Arsenal’s pursuit of winning the Premier League title next term.
Arteta can forget Gyokeres by unleashing Arsenal star who's "like Henry"
Arsenal are unlikely to spend £150m on Alexander Isak.
Após seis jogos sem fazer gols, seu maior jejum na temporada, Gabi voltou a marcar. Nas últimas duas partidas do Flamengo, o atacante balançou as redes adversárias e ajudou o time a construir vitórias importantes.

Meeting at The Oval discusses impact of medical and staffing costs for players heading to global leagues
ESPNcricinfo staff24-May-2023The directors of cricket (DoCs) at county clubs have called for an “urgent” review into standard contracts to address the “very real challenge” presented by their players representing several franchises during the English winter. The majority of county cricketers are employed on 12-month contracts but the English season only runs from April to September, meaning that an ever-growing number of players are travelling overseas during the off-season to play in franchise tournaments. Some DoCs – most notably Alec Stewart at Surrey – believe that counties are getting a rough deal, particularly for players who are only available for a small proportion of the season due to international commitments and involvement in the IPL and/or the Hundred.”They go away and play elsewhere and when they come back they want time in the indoor centre, the benefit of the best coaches advising them on their game, just to get ready to go off and play in another franchise competition somewhere else,” Stewart told Sky Sports earlier this month. “‘Oh and by the way, I’ve got a little injury so can I get treated by the physio, the doctor, the medical staff and can I get rehab as well?'”The DoCs met at The Oval on Monday and have since circulated a statement calling for representation on “any future performance committees or other appropriate working groups” so that the English game can “take advantage of our many years of amassed experience”.On the issue of player contracts, the statement said: “The current arrangement leaves the clubs with little control over their players’ movements in the off-season, often leading to increased medical and staffing costs to ensure players are suitably prepared and rehabilitated, and there is clearly now the need for more flexibility in this area to suit both clubs and players.”The number of players involved in winter tournaments has risen exponentially in the last four-five years and with the US Major League on the horizon, this is becoming a very real challenge for all involved. The group understands that the ECB, PCA and county CEOs also recognise the need for this review, and we would welcome the opportunity to have a direct input into these discussions.”A number of players are already on white-ball-only deals with counties, but the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) has warned that contracting more players only for specific windows will present “a real risk” to the sport. “It will create more white-ball specialists and could have a detrimental effect on the red-ball game and the Test team,” Daryl Mitchell, the PCA’s COO, told the . “And the men’s Test team is what underpins the [English] game’s finances.”Take away the care package of coaching and medical support and it becomes very transactional. Players love having a ‘home’, but strip away those benefits and the big career decisions become easier for players – in the wrong direction.”I understand the frustrations of the counties and players need to respect that side of it. We’re also very aware the global landscape has evolved and contracts need to evolve with it. But I don’t think contracting guys for six to eight weeks for specific competitions is the way to go. We have to protect the pathway.”

Sheffield United were agonisingly close to a win to really flex their muscles at the top of the Championship table last time out, only for Liam Manning’s Bristol City to spoil the mood.
Indeed, the Blades were heading to the top of the summit in style courtesy of Tyrese Campbell’s golden contribution, but the Robins had other ideas late on as the final scoreline ended 1-1.
Chris Wilder will be chewing over what changes to make to his first team personnel ahead of a nerve-wracking Steel City Derby on Sunday lunchtime, with Callum O’Hare perhaps surprisingly dropped for the nail-biting showdown at Hillsborough after a quiet showing at Bramall Lane.
O'Hare's performance vs Bristol City
Nobody can say they’ve been underwhelmed by the addition of O’Hare, considering the ex-Coventry City man boasts two goals and six assists in Championship action this season.
But, even the cream of the crop are prone to off-days, with O’Hare finding it hard to leave his mark on the 1-1 draw as nothing came off for him.

Across the course of his forgettable 54 minutes on the pitch, O’Hare failed to complete a single successful dribble, win a single duel or register a shot on the Robins net, leaving Wilder irked enough on the sideline to haul him off with barely an hour down on the clock.
Having started all but one of his 36 second-tier matches this campaign, it would be bold for Wilder to completely axe the ex-Sky Blues man from the next XI, but he could still be prepared to alter his team.
Chalkboard
Football FanCast’s Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game.
Wilder's best O'Hare replacement
Looking at Wilder’s substitutes bench during the home game against the visitors from Bristol, it’s clear the 57-year-old is blessed with some top options, with Kieffer Moore an experienced EFL striker who got a run-out late on.
Another face who was gifted a chance off the bench in the same game was ex-Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster, who might now replace O’Hare for the full-blooded clash at Hillsborough judging by his recent promising cameos.
Within a matter of minutes of being introduced, the reinvigorated 24-year-old poked the ball through to Campbell to slot home the opener, on top of also finishing off his brief spell on the pitch with an attempted shot at Max O’Leary’s busy goal.
This isn’t the only time the “amazing” attacker – as he was labelled by Wilder earlier this season – has left his impact on an unfolding clash across the 2024/25 campaign, with Brewster also helping himself to an assist against Portsmouth back in February from just 18 minutes.
Rhian Brewster of Sheffield United
The £35k-per-week earner could end up being the difference-maker when Wilder’s men make the short trip to face off against Rohl’s Wednesday, with a further two league goals next to his name this season making him a threat the Owls will have to contain whatever length of time he is handed on the Hillsborough turf.
United’s last loss in the usually fierce Steel City Derby was all the way back in 2012, with another victory tightening up their firm grip on the automatic promotion spots. But, a loss might well be the almighty kick in the teeth that sees United fall out of the top two.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Despite not being one of Barcelona's big-name starters, Lopez has been one of the most important parts of Flick's domestic treble-winning side. The Spanish midfielder had been expected to leave the Catalan side last summer on the back of his Olympics campaign, but was convinced to stay by the German coach.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite his strong showing, it is expected that Fermin will not be an outright starter next season, and Chelsea have offered Barcelona a possible way to offload the Spain international. As per Mundo Deportivo, the Blues offered the Catalan side a possible swap deal, which would see Fermin join Enzo Maresca's squad, while flop winger Nkunku would move to Barcelona.

The report has also claimed that Barcelona immediately turned down Chelsea's offer. The Catalan side will reportedly only consider selling the 22-year-old if he himself requests to leave the club. However, the Spain international is not thought to be interested in leaving the side this summer, as he looks to fight for his spot against Dani Olmo.

WHAT NEXT FOR FERMIN AND NKUNKU?
Barcelona had been interested in Nkunku last summer; however, the French international's lack of form at Stamford Bridge has meant that the Catalan side are now no longer interested in the winger. As for Fermin, the Spaniard is unlikely to demand to leave unless Flick prefers other players over him.
Tottenham Hotspur are now racing a number of their Premier League rivals for the signature of an “unbelievable” forward, who is set to command a fee of £54m this summer, according to a report.
Spurs looking to bolster attacking options
The scale of Tottenham’s injury crisis this season has left them a little light on attacking options at times, with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison spending time on the sidelines, and they are now stepping up their pursuit of a new striker.
Spurs are now in active talks over a deal for Lille striker Jonathan David, having been impressed by the Canadian’s performances this season, but there is widespread interest in his signature, with Arsenal and Manchester United also keen.
David is set to be available on a free transfer, but Ange Postecoglou’s side are also prepared to break the bank for an alternative target, with a report revealing they are willing to make a huge offer for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Not only is Postecoglou keen to bring in a new centre-forward, but there could also be additions in wide areas, with the Lilywhites incredibly keen on Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao.
One forward who could tick a lot of boxes is Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, who is able to play both on the wing and at striker, and a report from Caught Offside has revealed Tottenham are now in the race for the forward’s signature.

Spurs are one of a number of Premier League clubs chasing Lookman, with seven English sides battling for the in-demand attacker, including London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
The 27-year-old is expected to leave Atalanta at the end of the campaign, with the Serie A side setting an asking price of €65m (£54m), amid further interest from Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Juventus.
"Unbelievable" Lookman deserves big move
The Nigerian famously led Atalanta to a Europa League final victory over Bayer Leverkusen last season, scoring a hat-trick to secure a 3-0 victory, and he ranks extremely highly on a number of key attacking metrics over the past year, when compared to other forwards.

As a result of the incredible display in the Europa League final, the Atalanta star received high praise from pundit Mina Rzouki, and he has continued to impress this season, picking up 13 goals and five assists in 23 Serie A games.
As such, it is exciting news that Tottenham are in the race for Lookman, but they may need to win the Europa League to stand a chance of winning the race for his signature, given that so many top clubs are keen.
Manchester City and Pep Guardiola could sanction the departure of an “incredible” £300,000-a-week player this summer, as the club plan an overhaul of the squad, according to a Sky Sports journalist.
Man City reach seven FA Cup semi-finals in a row
The Blues secured their place in the last four of England’s oldest competition on Sunday afternoon, as they came from a goal down to beat AFC Bournemouth 2-1. The FA Cup represents City’s only chance of winning silverware this season, and Guardiola believes his side were “outstanding” in their win over the Cherries.

Man City won their FA Cup semi-final 2-1 on Sunday
ByJoe Nuttall Mar 31, 2025
“It was harder for them [Bournemouth]. We played an outstanding game and had incredible chances but missed a penalty. We conceded with one chance we gave away. Our approach was magnificent. Seven times in a row in the semi-final in the FA Cup, no team has done it, and it will be difficult for any other to do what these legendary players, the new ones and the old ones, will have done,” Guardiola told the BBC.
Pep was then asked about City reaching the FA Cup semi-finals for a seventh consecutive season, and he labelled it an “unbelievable” achievement.
“It is unbelievable. The way we competed today compared to the way we played in the first game here [in the Premier League]. I was not good enough to overcome that situation then. We were sloppy for many games, and I was not able to let them realise is what they have done today. For example, Brighton was a difficult game; we didn’t play our best, but we fought. This is what had to happen.”
Man City could sanction Grealish exit as Pep plans busy summer
Despite possible success in the FA Cup, it has been a poor campaign for the Blues, and therefore, there is expected to be plenty of incomings and outgoings come the summer.
According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Man City could look to sell Jack Grealish this summer as the Blues plan a busy summer of change.
Plettenberg states that City are planning a squad overhaul in the summer, and with them holding an interest in players such as Florian Wirtz and Hugo Larsson, the likes of İlkay Gündoğan and Kevin De Bruyne are likely departures when their contracts expire, while Grealish could also be moved on despite his not ending until 2026.
Grealish, who earns £300,000 a week at the Etihad Stadium, has struggled for regular game time this season, playing just 16 times in the Premier League, six of which have been starts, and the last one came in the defeat to Aston Villa back in December.
Despite the lack of game time, Guardiola has continued to heap praise on the Englishman, labelling him “incredible”.

He never complains about that.”
