Chineses fazem outra proposta por Dudu; Palmeiras recusa de novo

MatériaMais Notícias

O Changchun Yatai continua tentando tirar Dudu do Palmeiras.

Bridge shares Amrabat to Spurs update

Sharing transfer news out of Tottenham Hotspur, journalist Michael Bridge of Sky Sports has dropped an update on the Lilywhites’ pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat.

The Lowdown: Spurs eye move…

Before Tottenham reliably closed in on the signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus (Sky Sports), it was believed that transfer chief Fabio Paratici had his eye firmly on Fiorentina’s midfielder.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-news-2/” title=”Tottenham latest news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Reports even suggested that the Lilywhites had reached an agreement for Amrabat as Antonio Conte set his sights on midfield additions.

Sharing news out of Spurs, Bridge has revealed the latest update involving the Morocco star.

The Latest: Bridge shares Amrabat update…

Speaking to GiveMeSport, revealing what he knows, the Sky Sports reporter believes that the big development on Bentancur and Kulusevski has had an impact on this transfer. Indeed, he says that Amrabat will not join the Lilywhites this January.

When asked if a Spurs move for the Moroccan is now off the cards, he responded: “That’s what I’m told. I think Amrabat was someone who they knew they could get as a Plan B, so that looks like it’s not happening now.”

The Verdict: Big loss?

As Bentancur, who shone at the 2018 World Cup, reportedly makes his way to N17, we believe Amrabat isn’t exactly a big loss despite former Palermo sporting director Rino Foschi calling him a ‘bargain’ player.

As the alternative, Bentancur has averaged an impressive 2.8 tackles per 90 in the Champions League this season, the joint-most out of any Juventus player in the competition (WhoScored), and we think it is clear that the Uruguay international is a more than adequate choice for Conte’s midfield.

India's island dreams shatter again

India’s exit may not create the seismic activity that followed the early flight home in the 2007 World Cup, but it is bound to produce plenty of harsh assessment

MS Dhoni: “At the end of the day if you are outplayed there is nothing much you can do about it”•AFP

India have had another Caribbean nightmare. Three years ago they were the kings of Twenty20 but now have some serious thinking to do about the shortest format. For the second tournament in succession they have been dumped without a win in the Super Eights and defeat never goes down well back home. And this from a side in which every member played at the IPL. Ideal preparation? Obviously not. This exit may not create the seismic activity that followed the early flight home in the 2007 World Cup, but it is bound to produce plenty of harsh assessment. The inquisitions had started even before this match, with India only having an outside chance of progressing. That faint hope disappeared once Sri Lanka reached 144 in their run-chase and a demoralised side then gave up the match off the last ball. Four sixes in the final eight deliveries carried Sri Lanka to an impressive success and their all-round performance was the complete opposite of what India have been able to produce.MS Dhoni managed a few smiles in his press conference as he was grilled in expected fashion. Partly that was due to an interruption from the PA announcer about an illegally parked car, but also when he was asked about how this would go down in India. He knows what it will be like. He’s been here before and it won’t be pleasant.”As captain you are always under pressure,” he said. “I think it’s the responsibility of the captain to explain why the team didn’t do well because he’s the face of the team. He gets the credit when he goes well and he also gets the criticism. It shouldn’t reach into your private life but we are leading a country where cricket is a big sport and each time we go out we are expected to win.”But it was the downbeat nature of his assessment of what the team could have done about the situation which was most clear and surprising. “At the end of the day we are on the losing side, nothing much can be done about it because this is the best 15 [players] you can get in India when it comes to T20. At the end of the day if you are outplayed there is nothing much you can do about it.”In hindsight the signs weren’t good to start with. They were the last side to arrive and didn’t opt for a practice match before their opening game. Dhoni suggested it was the last thing his team needed after a 90-minute coach ride from the international airport in St Lucia to the north of the island. They have also chosen days off rather than practice during the event but Dhoni said “one more practice session wouldn’t have made a difference”.They were lucky with the schedule in the group stage as their opening game was against Afghanistan who, for all the romanticism it possibility entailed, were never seriously going to challenge India. That gave them breathing space and the victory against South Africa, led by Suresh Raina’s 101, was a slick display which boded well. In reality they peaked too soon. They couldn’t handle the pace and bounce of the Barbados pitch and Dhoni has admitted some of the batsmen aren’t up to the challenge due to the nature of conditions they are brought up on. There aren’t many bouncy tracks at the IPL. When they were back in St Lucia they were right at home on the front foot and Raina was back in the runs. Nothing was bouncing above knee height. Dhoni admitted that India’s inability to cope with the bouncer was systemic.”Most of us have the problem of playing short-pitched balls. So it is not just the youngsters who had problems. We can’t neglect it any more. But we don’t have bowlers who consistently at 145-50 kph and most of wickets in India don’t have that kind of bounce,” he said.”But we should also remember we are good players of spin. So we shouldn’t be ashamed that we can’t play short-pitched bowling. We have to play even against short balls but we can’t be ducking and leaving all the time in Twenty20,” Dhoni said.Win or lose, the role of the IPL was bound to be at the forefront of India’s performance. Dhoni has said it’s unfair to compare the two, but if anything this World Twenty20 has just gone to reinforce that the quality is actually spread pretty thinly in that tournament. It’s a domestic event, albeit a big and brash one. Dhoni also made a subtle suggestion that players needed to take responsibility for themselves.”I’ve had no setbacks because of the IPL but at the same time players need to be smart because IPL is not only about cricket,” he said. “You have to respect your body and if you don’t do that then IPL is draining. If you play late games and go to the parties and travel the next day it takes a toll. But if you take care of yourself 45 days of cricket shouldn’t affect you because we play 200 or more in a year.”It’s a question of priorities for this India team and maybe international Twenty20 is now down the list. Now that they are top of the tree in Test cricket the BCCI is trying to arrange Test series left, right and centre so they can retain the mantle. South Africa’s tour earlier this year was adjusted to include two Tests and Australia are now being asked for the same when they visit in October. If the BCCI really do want to help the future of Test cricket then it’s a great move, but it is clearly more than coincidence.India next’s assignment is a triangular series in Zimbabwe alongside the hosts and Sri Lanka with what, in effect, is a shadow side. Senior players, including Dhoni, are being rested, which suggests he is more tired than he has admitted. However, for Dhoni there is a huge challenge on the horizon over the next nine months – preparing his team for a World Cup on home soil. Failure here will be hard to stomach for the billions of fans, but failure next year won’t be tolerated.

Predicted Rangers XI vs Stirling Albion

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers side will be looking to return to winning ways as they head into Scottish Cup action on Friday night.

They were held to a 1-1 draw by Aberdeen in the Premiership earlier this week and now come up against League Two outfit Stirling Albion.

This match could be an opportunity for a number of fringe players to get welcome minutes and for others to find their confidence following the frustrating draw with the Dons.

How many changes will Van Bronckhorst make from Tuesday night? Here is our predicted XI…

We are predicting that he will make seven alterations to the side from the draw at Pittodrie, with Jon McLaughlin, Leon Balogun, Jack Simpson, Cedric Itten, Fashion Sakala, Alex Lowry and John Lundstram all coming in.

Starting off between the sticks, McLaughlin could get the nod to enjoy some minutes after a lengthy spell out of the team. He has not played a competitive game for Rangers since 9 December against Lyon, and this is the perfect chance to bring him back in for a match.

Van Bronckhorst could also swap out his two first-choice centre-backs, Connor Goldson and Calvin Bassey, to start Balogun and Simpson for the same reason. The aforementioned duo have started every game under the Dutchman and could be rested for this cup clash.

The Scotsman have reported that Lowry will be given his first-team bow in this game and we are predicting that it will come from the start. The 18-year-old could be handed the opportunity to show what he can do over the course of 90 minutes at senior level, which could be an audition for his chance to play in the Premiership between now and the end of the season.

Lundstram could then come in alongside him in place of Glen Kamara, with James Sands keeping his spot in the XI. The American, who joined from New York City FC this month, could need additional minutes to build relationships with his new team-mates, which is why he could start tonight.

In the frontline, Sakala and Itten could both be played from the start in order to help them find some form in front of goal. They both came off the bench in the draw at Aberdeen, and Van Bronckhorst could axe Alfredo Morelos and Scott Wright from the team.

The Colombian endured a difficult night against the Dons and could be axed from the XI as a result. The £33k-per-week gem was not at his best, so handing him a rest here could be a shrewd call by the head coach.

Test counties demand more ECB cash

England’s Test-match counties are pressing for greater financial support from the England and Wales Cricket Board, and stronger guarantees of international fixtures

England’s Test-match counties have warned that ambitious plans for ground improvements, alongside the bidding war for international fixtures, could result in financial turmoil unless the ECB increases financial support to the counties and guarantees international games. The nine counties that host international cricket were promised a further meeting next week with Giles Clarke, after making their case for greater funding and a less aggressive tendering process at the ECB’s annual meeting at Lord’s on Thursday.Their efforts will have knock-on effects throughout the domestic game in England. Not only could the smaller counties, already in financially precarious position, lose money but other areas such as women’s and amateur cricket could also be affected. The counties who have category A grounds – those capable of hosting Tests – originally set up a working party to plan their campaign in March over “a growing concern about the long-term sustainability and viability of the current Test match venues,” according to a Yorkshire statement. In recent years hosting rights have increasingly been decided purely by the highest bid, rather than other factors, and with many international venues spending plenty improving facilities, English cricket has been left needing to supply a hefty number of international matches to meet the counties’ needs. The overbidding has left counties in a vulnerable position, with rain-affected Tests leaving them fearing heavy losses. “These nine grounds have invested substantial amounts of capital into the redevelopment of their stadiums in recent years. Indeed, many are still in the process of completing substantial capital programmes,” Yorkshire said.”It is important that these grounds are able to deliver an acceptable return on investment from these assets. The current bidding process for grounds to stage major matches has resulted in substantial financial pressure across the game and created risk for venues, which needs to be addressed.”The review will last two months, at which point the Test counties will deliver their own recommendations to the ECB.

Struggling Delhi look for change of luck

Cricinfo previews the 15th match of the IPL between Deccan Chargers and Delhi Daredevils in Cuttack

Big pictureThings aren’t so rosy for the Delhi Daredevils, who’ve slipped from top of the table after two games to No.6. Gautam Gambhir’s absence has had a bigger impact than they could have imagined, and a date hasn’t yet been set for his return. Their biggest worry, though, is their bowling, which has failed to defend totals of 218 and 185. And even those high scores belie a shaky batting line-up, with AB de Villiers out of form and Tillakaratne Dilshan yet to play a special innings. A strong middle-order performance will play a big part in getting Delhi back on track. Their seamers, especially Dirk Nannes, can be very potent on pitches that offer seam movement and pace. In Ashish Nehra’s absence, the responsibility on Nannes has only increased. After two forgettable showings at home, they’ll hope for better luck at a new venue.Deccan have rebounded well after losing their opening game, recording back-to-back wins against Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab. Adam Gilchrist retained the winning line-up against Punjab and the team looked in control of the game for most of the game. Their overseas players, including Andrew Symonds and Chaminda Vaas, have performed consistently and they are one of the form teams in this tournament. If Deccan win, it will be their first against Delhi in the league stages of the IPL.Team talkGambhir’s return is still uncertain and assistant coach Eric Simons hinted that he could miss the next couple of games. Dinesh Karthik will continue to lead the team in his place. Wayne Parnell hasn’t got a game, neither has Moises Henriques, though it won’t be a bad idea to bring in the allrounder Henriques in place of the under-pressure de Villiers. Sarabjit Ladda has been expensive, so they can consider replacing him with Sarandeep Singh.Deccan’s VVS Laxman suffered an unfortunate injury to the arm while batting against Punjab. The fact that he retired hurt suggested that the injury could be serious. His absence could give Venugopal Rao an opportunity.Previously…Delhi 4 Deccan 1
Delhi won both their matches against Deccan 2008. They won their home game by 12 runs and the away game by a nine-wicket margin.Delhi won the first match against Deccan in 2009 by six wickets, thanks to Nannes’ opening spell. Deccan ought to have won the return match, needing 25 in three overs, with six wickets in hand but choked, losing by 12 runs. Rajat Bhatia was the hero on that occasion. But Deccan had their revenge in the more important clash – the semi-final. In the spotlightAB de Villiers: Thirty-five runs in four games at 8.75. Not numbers you will associate with the South African batsman, but a big score is due. Fortunately, his poor batting form hasn’t rubbed off on his fielding, which is as sharp as ever. But you have to admit that he’s one failure away from being dropped.
RP Singh: The left-armer has struggled in Indian conditions and he’s yet to recreate his form from last year, where the swing and seam in South Africa made him feel at home. Three wickets at 36 and an expensive economy rate of 9.81 aren’t figures you’d expect from the team’s strike bowler.Chaminda Vaas v Delhi top-order: He did it to Kolkata, Chennai and Punjab. A fascinating duel with Sehwag beckons.Prime numbers Chaminda Vaas remains the Purple Cap holder with seven wickets, followed closely by hat-trick man Praveen Kumar at six.Virender Sehwag’s strike-rate of 194.68 is the highest for any batsman who has played four matches. Gilchrist’s slightly ahead at 195.31 but he’s played one game less.Chatter”We know what Gilchrist did to us in the semifinal last year. We know what kind of a player he is and what is the kind of player Gibbs is.”

“We can’t take anyone lightly and Delhi are a quality side, they showed it in IPL 2. But, we must do our things well and not worry too much about the opposition.”

Swann and Broad cement England's control

Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad shared five wickets as England built on a commanding batting display by reducing Bangladesh to 154 for 5 at Chittagong

The Bulletin by Andrew McGlashan13-Mar-2010

Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad shared five wickets as England built on a commanding batting display by reducing Bangladesh to 154 for 5 at Chittagong, but Tamim Iqbal at least provided some resistance with a combative, unbeaten 81. Paul Collingwood’s 10th Test hundred, and a stand of 184 in 35 overs with Ian Bell, propelled the visitors’ total to 599 for 6 and despite a counterattack by Tamim and Mahmudullah Bangladesh have a huge task to even take the game five days. The match was crying out for an element of competitiveness from Bangladesh after an insipid performance in the field and Tamim’s performance at least ensured the England attack weren’t given as easy a ride as the batsmen. However, Swann’s removal of Mahmudallah and Shakib Al Hasan before the close were huge blows for the home side who still need 246 to save the follow onTamim’s 125 in the one-day series displayed the talent he holds, but if Bangladesh are to develop as a Test nation those innings have to be played over the longer format and Tamim’s contest with the England attack became the most compelling part of the match. He impressively restrained his attacking instincts as the close approached and also had the technique to withstand the quicks. That couldn’t be said of his first two partners as Broad exploited a glaring weakness against the short ball to remove Imrul Kayes and Junaid Siddique in the 30-minute passage before tea following Alastair Cook’s positive declaration. Both batsmen had no idea how to handle the short deliveries as Broad proved comfortably the quickest bowler of the match and extracted disconcerting lift. When Swann continued his extraordinary knack of striking in his first over, removing Aftab Ahmed courtesy of alert anticipation at short leg by Bell and a dubious decision, Bangladesh were tottering on 51 for 3 and it was threatening to become a walkover. But Tamim was joined by Mahmudullah, who scored a maiden Test century on the recent tour of New Zealand to follow impressive contributions against India, and together the pair revived the innings with a stand of 94. The stand served as a reminder that once the Kookaburra ball loses its hardness wicket-taking proves hard work.Tamim became the quickest Bangladesh player to pass 1000 Test runs – in 29 innings – as he reached a half century from 53 balls. The knock included a hooked six off Broad and he latched onto Steven Finn’s first spell in Tests as a three-over burst cost 25.Mahmudullah offered stylish support and justified his elevation up the order following the hasty reshuffle of the line-up after Raqibul Hasan’s ‘retirement’. He drove confidently through the off side, but the pick of his shots was a six straight against Swann. However, shortly after reaching fifty Swann had revenge when Mahmudullah gloved a sweep and a skilled set-up by the bowler did for Shakib who tried to drive inside-out.Graeme Swann’s first over magic

England paced their innings perfectly with Collingwood and Bell stepping on the gas to plunder the bowling in the afternoon. Collingwood struck a single boundary between his fifty and his hundred – and that appeared to deflect of pad rather than bat – but after reaching three figures off 157 balls he began to pepper the boundary in one-day style. Midwicket, both along the ground and in the air, is Collingwood’s area and he toyed with the Bangladesh spinners. So, too, did Bell although he has not made such easy runs since the 162 he plundered off Bangladesh during his third Test in 2005. The bowling was barely first-class standard, let alone Test quality. In contrast to Collingwood’s rustic thumping, Bell was elegance personified as he regularly skipped down the pitch to counter the leg-stump line of the spinners and fed the ball through the off side with inside-out drives. He was given the chance to become the third century-maker of the innings but fell to a well-judged boundary catch which signalled the declaration. That smart piece of work from Rubel Hossain at long off was the exception rather than the rule as the fielding disintegrated, while Mushfiqur Rahim continued to be a liability behind the stumps. Bangladesh had long-since given up the pretence of trying to bowl England out and it was clear from the start of play, when Shakib removed all the slips, that they were just waiting for the visitors to score as many as they wanted.Cook ticked past his previous career-best of 160 against West Indies, at Chester-le-Street, last year but continued England’s lack of double hundreds when he pulled a long hop back to the bowler. England’s last was by Kevin Pietersen in 2007 and there have only been seven since Graham Gooch, Cook’s mentor, hit 333 against India in 1990. But while the double eluded the new captain, a Test victory is well within his grasp.
