أصدرت لجنة إدارة الإسماعيلي، بيانًا رسميًا، للرد على يحيى الكومي رئيس النادي الأسبق، بشأن تصريحاته عن لاعب الفريق الأول لكرة القدم، محمد خليفة.

وكان يحيى الكومي قد صرح أمس، بأنه ضم محمد خليفة إلى الإسماعيلي مجاملة لوالده مقابل بعض الإنشاءات والتجديدات للنادي.

وأوضح النادي الإسماعيلي في بيانه أن القوام الحالي للفريق نال ثقة المدير الفني ولم يجد بين صفوفه أي لاعب يُستوجب رحيله كونه تواجد كنوع من (المجاملة أو المحاباه) مع التنويه أن اللاعب محمد خليفة قد سبق له خوض تجارب احتراف بالدوري الأسباني بجانب اللعب لأندية كبيرة ولديها جماهيرية من بينها الزمالك وأسوان.

وشدد النادي في البيان على أنه يرفض بشدة أي إساءة لأي فرد ينتمي للنادي، خاصة لاعبي الفريق الأول ومنهم محمد خليفة. بيان النادي الإسماعيلي بشأن محمد خليفة:

يؤكد مجلس إدارة النادي الإسماعيلي برئاسة اللواء أبو بكر الحديدي علي بالغ تقديره واحترامه لكافة مجالس الإدارات السابقة والذين سعوا جلياً لخدمة هذا النادي.

ويشير مجلس الإدارة إلى أن القوام الحالي من لاعبي الفريق الأول لكرة القدم يضم عناصر مميزة سواء على الصعيد الفني أو الخُلقي وهو ما أكد عليه المدير الفني القدير أحمد حسام ميدو منذ أن تولينا المهمة التي نشرف بتحملها علي عاتقنا في تلك الظروف الصعبة..

وتابع المجلس :” القوام الحالي للفريق نال ثقة المدير الفني ولم يجد بين صفوفه أي لاعب يُستوجب رحيله كونه تواجد كنوع من ” المجاملة أو المحاباه ” مع التنويه على أن اللاعب محمد خليفة قد سبق له خوض تجارب احتراف بالدوري الأسباني بجانب اللعب لأندية كبيرة ولديها جماهيرية من بينها الزمالك و أسوان ولديه تجربه احترافية في اسبانيا و ويخوض تدريباته بحماس  واجتهاد في التدريبات بغية الحصول علي فرصة المشاركة مع زملائه فضلا عن كونه لاعب علي خلق و يتمتع بحب و احترام الجميع داخل النادي العريق”.

ويشدد مجلس إدارة النادي علي تقديره للجميع ولكنه يرفض وبشدة أي إساءه لاي فرد ينتمي لهذا الكيان العظيم وخاصة لاعبي الفريق الاول ومنهم محمد خليفه وأن المجلس لن يدخر جهدا في الدفاع عن كل من ينتمي للنادي الاسماعيلي وأن الجميع هنا على قلب رجل واحد من أجل عودة نادينا للمكانة التي يستحقها و تحقق طموحات جماهيره نتمني من الجميع التكاتف حول الفريق في هذه الفتره الصعبه وان نتحلي جميعا بحسن النوايا و صفاء القلوب

Zimbabwe will look to Younis Khan for inspiration as they set out to save the first Test against Pakistan in Harare. Set a massive 342 for victory, Zimbabwe will hope to bat out the day with the same patience and poise Younis displayed during his 10-and-a-half hour period at the crease, during which he brought up a second undefeated 200.Younis batted from the eighth over, when Pakistan were 21 for 2, until the end of the innings by which time he had put them in a commanding position. He saw off an extended period during which run-scoring was scant and shared in two century-stands and an 88-run last-wicket partnership to give Pakistan a healthy lead and show the value of an old-hand.”It was a fantastic innings,” Dav Whatmore said. “It really helped us out from the position we were in. When the captain was out, Younis really showed what he was capable of. He just continued and he showed a lot of faith in the younger players.”One of the two hundred partnerships Younis was involved in was with Adnan Akmal to make good on his intention, which he stated on Thursday evening, to help the next generation of Pakistan batsmen.Through trying periods, during which Zimbabwe’s bowlers rarely erred from a tight offstump line, Younis shepherded Adnan, who may have become frustrated were it not for the example Younis set.”He is the experience in the team and he showed it. He batted, even when his strike rate went down, it didn’t matter. Other players might have got out through fatigue but he kept going,” Whatmore said.Flower admitted Younis eventually “wore down our bowlers” and even though it likely batted Zimbabwe out of the match, it taught their batsmen how to apply themselves. “They can learn from his skills, his patience and how much he wanted it,” Flower said. “He built an innings and showed why he is still one of the best Test batsmen in the world.”So impressive was the timing of Younis’ knock – it started slowly, swelled gradually and accelerated the way he plays a late glance, at just the last moment – that Whamore called it “one of the finest innings I’ve seen.” He also said it was a testament to Younis’ commitment. “After the first innings, where he failed, he went back to the nets, he worked hard and it showed.”Whatmore now expects the same from his bowlers, who already made an inroad into Zimbabwe’s line-up late on the fourth evening and have a full day to take the remaining nine wickets. “We think we’ve got enough time. More than 90 overs should be enough and we’re hopeful spin can do the trick for us.”Pakistan are confident of taking a 1-0 lead in the series, which they are also using as preparation for what is expected to be a much sterner challenge against South Africa in the UAE next month. “This is ideal preparation. When we played South Africa in February, we had had a lot of stuff in coloured clothing but now this has worked out very well,” Whatmore said.His only outstanding wish was that Pakistan could have played at a different facility in addition to the one being used for this match. “It’s not easy being at one venue. It’s a pity we can’t have a different scenery,” he said. Their entire tour of two Twenty20s, three ODIs and two Tests has been Harare-based after ZC moved the second Test from Bulawayo to the capital as well.Although a trip to the more spinner-friendly Queens Club would have suited Pakistan just fine, Whatmore said they are not complaining. “We understand the challenges and we are keen to play as much Test cricket as we can, just like Zimbabwe, so we’ll take this for sure.”

The inaugural Ramadan T20 cup had a thrilling finish at the National Stadium in Karachi, with Habib Bank Limited (HBL) taking the trophy after a Super Over. Imran Farhat, whose 65 led HBL to 158, did the honours in the Super Over, chasing Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) modest score of 7. PIA did their best to stretch HBL in the final over of the match, with Anwar Ali smashing Ehsan Adil for six off the last ball to tie the scores.HBL had the upper hand going into that final over, with 15 to defend. Anwar pushed the ball to deep cover and was content with a single but his partner Salman Saeed set off for the second run, only to be sent back and end up short of his ground. The next two deliveries only produced singles, adding to PIA’s desperation. The much-needed boundary came off the fourth ball, as Aizaz Cheema sliced a low full toss to third man. He took a single off the fifth to long-off, leaving Anwar no option but to send the final ball out of the ground to level the scores. Adil bowled a full toss and Anwar dispatched it over long-on to give PIA another shot at the trophy.It wasn’t to be, though. After his final-over heroics, Anwar was chosen to bat in the Super Over, ahead the other specialist batsmen. He began well, striking the first ball to the long-off boundary. Shoaib Malik fell off the third ball and PIA couldn’t manage any more boundaries. A run-out then left PIA with an underwhelming 7 to defend. Farhat sealed the game in just three balls, pulling Cheema to the fine leg boundary to give HBL the title after all the drama.Earlier, Farhat’s half-century provided the platform for HBL to build on after they chose to bat. He was involved in stands of 58 and 38 respectively at the top of the order with Asad Baig and Younis Khan respectively before he was caught at deep cover, off Anwar. All three sixes in the HBL innings were scored by Farhat. HBL lost their way after Farhat fell in the 15th over, losing their remaining seven wickets for 32 runs.PIA began their chase poorly, losing their captain Malik for a duck in the first over. Fahad Iqbal gave the innings a push, smashing two fours and a six in the third over, that went for 15. HBL hit back by removing two quickly, leaving the opposition at 34 for 3 in 4.2 overs. Two 40-plus stands, however, revived PIA’s hopes. Faisal Iqbal was involved in both, adding 48 with Sheharyar Ghani and 46 with Sarfraz Ahmed, but despite the resistance, they kept battling with the asking rate, needing 38 off the last three overs. Iqbal was caught behind in the 18th over before Sarfraz was run out the following over, leaving the rest to the lower order. It was HBL’s game to lose and after choking in the final over, they made amends in the Super Over.

Chris Rogers has been confirmed as Shane Watson’s opening partner for Australia in the first Investec Test against England at Trent Bridge. The Australia coach, Darren Lehmann, said Rogers had been inked in to partner Watson on the eve of the tourists’ final Ashes warm-up match against Worcestershire at New Road.”Watson and Rogers will open the batting for Australia, I’m comfortable with that, they’ll play the first Test,” Lehmann said. “All the rest are in the frame, but Rogers has obviously been picked for a reason by the previous selection panel and we’re really comfortable with that, he’s had a great summer here with Middlesex, made two big hundreds and been in good form.”Rogers was understandably delighted to know he is guaranteed to add to his one Test match, against India in Perth in January 2008.”I’m naturally excited. It’s a huge thrill,” Rogers said. “Anyone who has been selected doesn’t want to be a one-Test wonder. I had probably given up hope at times but I guess with the new selection committee and retirements of Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey it gave me a bit of hope that they would pick an older head.”I can just enjoy it and really see that there is nothing to lose. I didn’t expect this opportunity and hopefully I can play well. If that happens hopefully we can win a few games as well.”The decision means Ed Cowan and David Warner have been deposed as Australia’s opening combination after a moderately successful union over the previous 18 months.
